Lawrence Limelight
Hinkle Creek Parents and Friends,
We had a great first week back at Hinkle Creek! The students were very attentive and inspired to learn this week. Thank you parents for having your student (s) ready to return to learning. Just a reminder, Noblesville Schools, including Hinkle Creek, will be closed on Monday, January 17th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. School will resume on Tuesday, January 18th.
Information regarding Spring High Ability Testing:
Noblesville Schools relies on NWEA scores to identify students who achieve at exceptional levels for High Ability (FOCUS) instruction. To identify students with the potential for high achievement that is not reflected in NWEA scores, all students in kindergarten and second grade who are not already identified as High Ability in both math and English language arts will take an online screener called the Cognitive Abilities Test, or CogAT. Students who meet the benchmark on the screener will later take the remaining portions of the CogAT. All fifth graders who are not already identified as High Ability in both math and English language arts and who meet the benchmark will take the full CogAT without first taking the screener. *If you have questions about high ability testing and instruction, go to www.noblesvilleschools.org and click on Academics and then on High Ability. Questions may also be directed to Mr. Lawrence in the Hinkle Creek main office.
January Calendar Reminders:
January 17th: No School in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 19th: Late Arrival Day (school starts at 8:30 AM)
Happy New Year!
Jack Lawrence; Principal at Hinkle Creek
All Means All Artwork Selection
In the coming weeks, students across the district will be invited to vote on a piece of artwork that they think best says “All Means All”. They will choose from three different designs created by fellow students to represent inclusivity in our school community. If you have questions about this voting, please contact Mr. Lawrence in the Hinkle Creek main office.

Hinkle Creek Girls in 5th grade – and older sisters!
Have you wanted the adventure that Boy Scouts have, in a troop for girls? A chance to experience adventure, outdoors, and belonging while working toward the rank of Eagle Scout? Noblesville Scouts BSA Troop 222 launches in February – a troop for area girls to enjoy the adventure of Scouts BSA!
To join
A girl must be at least 11 years old, or a fifth grader. We’re especially looking for fifth- through eighth graders (ages 11-17 qualify) who want to be part of this brand-new troop. Girls do not need to have previously been involved in scouting to join.
Noblesville Girls Troop 222 will hold a recruitment event on Monday, January 24, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 206th St. and Cumberland Road, at 7 pm. It will be a fun evening to learn more about this new troop and Scouts BSA and how to get involved. Leaders will be there to answer questions, and we will have some scouting activities that might be part of earning your first Scout rank.
For more information, please contact the troop at noblesvilletroop222@gmail.com, Scoutmaster Jenny Sherrill at jennyrsherrill@gmail.com or check out our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NoblesvilleTroop222. We can’t wait to welcome more girls into the adventure of Scouts BSA!
From the cafeteria:
Last Minute Menu Changes
The national food, product and trucking shortages that are impacting stores and restaurants are also impacting our school cafeteria operations.
These shortages can cause our menus to change unexpectedly at the last minute at any specific school and some students have expressed tears, frustration, and anger at these changes.
Please know that we are doing what we can to provide meal options as planned, but families should expect occasional disruptions.
Thank you for your patience as we work to best serve you.
