Kia ora Parents and Caregivers
I was immensely proud of our children on Wednesday when we evacuated due to the Tsunami warning. Although I'm sure many children were scared or nervous, they all reacted calmly and moved quickly.
The decision to evacuate was made after the HB Civil Defence Facebook post stated 'If you felt that as LONG or STRONG, GET GONE'. Although the earthquake didn't feel strong, the length of time it lasted was a concern; we wanted to err on the side of caution.
A huge thanks to my staff for acting quickly and ensuring our children were safe.
Now is a timely reminder, that in the case of a Tsunami threat, we will evacuate via Kennedy Road towards Taradale Park. Please do not try to find us or make contact as this will slow down the evacuation procedure.
With any emergency, we will communicate as soon as possible via the new school app 'Hero'.
Have a great weekend Whanau!
