Newsletter Week 9 Term 3

Brooklyn School Monday 19th September 2022

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia Ora,

This third term is drawing to a close but there have been many significant events taking place over past days.

A huge well done to the Brooklyn Kapa Haka Group for their outstanding efforts last week. The group performed brilliantly and everyone is very proud of the way they carried themselves and delivered the performance. The amount of sheer hard work that was put into preparing for this was well worth it and they did us so proud. Many thanks to both Whaea Ness and Whaea Amanda for their excellent work preparing this group and supporting them throughout. The team were very fortunate to have your experience and energy guiding them and to top it off - won their section!

Then of course was the fantastic Brooklyn Book Fair held last weekend. All reports indicate that it was incredibly well supported and of course wonderfully organised and delivered by our amazing FOTS team, led superbly by Mags. An enormous thanks must go this group, notably Kirsten for the many long hours she spent sorting piles and piles of books and the many other helpers who gave their time so generously, and of course the hard working staff of Brooklyn School who were on board before, during and after the event. It was certainly heartening to see the community turn up to support this initiative after what has been a prolonged period of uncertainty. Brooklyn school and its amazing students are so very fortunate to have you all supporting us in this way. You are all brilliant!

Of course we still have more to do this term and we can’t wait to launch our senior students on their way to Wellington next week. What an amazing time they will have and we can’t wait to hear the stories they bring back from this amazing adventure. Not many sleeps to go until you are exploring our vibrant capital city. Exciting times await!

Have a fantastic week everyone.

Targa Car Rally - Saturday 15th 3:30pm - 5.:30pm

The car rally is driving past our school! We have been to asked by them as a fundraiser to wash (some very expensive and impressive) cars! We need a team of 12 adults, (unfortunately we cannot use students as if they drop the cloth/sponge, it may collect a tiny stone and if they carry on washing the cars, could scratch them). These are very generous donors that own these cars, so we will be washing cars, selling food and drink to them after their rally drive. If any of you are car enthusiasts and want to see these cars up extra close - give the office a call and we would love your help.

School Photos

Unfortunately photos today had to be postponed. With the hall out of action, being still full of books, we had no other 'wet day' place for them to be taken. These will now be in term 4 - keep an eye out for the date.

Monday Saveloys in Bread - $2.00

Please have your order into the office before morning break

Pie Friday - $4.00 & Savouries $1.50

Please can we have orders into the office on a Thursday so we can order the correct amount for Friday lunches.
