Newsletter Week 7 Term 4

Brooklyn School Monday 28th November 2022

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia Ora Brooklyn Families,

Week 7 has arrived and it’s all go here at Brilliant Brooklyn School.

The students are preparing for a range of exciting activities as the term nears its conclusion. Production practices are in full swing with lines to be remembered, costumes to be designed and props to be created.

We also look ahead to the upcoming Kai Festival and Christmas Parade on Friday night. Brooklyn students will feature in both of these events and we encourage our families to get along and support our talented young stars. Details are below.

We are delighted to have so many of our families purchase a pool key for use over the summer months. These are available from our school office and we would like to encourage our Brooklyn community to utilise this fantastic resource. Class swimming has now started and as this is part of our P.E. Curriculum, we need all students taking part in these sessions. Please support us by ensuring that your child is bringing their swimming gear to school every day.

You will have noticed that our caretaker John has installed the first of our new basketball backboards. These are proving to be extremely popular and on behalf of the students I would like to extend a huge thanks to our awesome FOTS team for the funds to purchase these.

So, lots to do and it’s no surprise that our collective goal for the remaining weeks is focussed upon being able to ADAPT as we navigate the busy days ahead.

Enjoy your week everyone.

Chris

School Photos

Over the weekend, you should have been emailed your code to order the school photos online. Give Luisa a call in the office if you need your code.

Christmas Parade

This Friday 2nd December. Please meet on Pah Street float line at about 6pm. This gives the children involved in Kapa Haka at the Kai Fest foodies plenty of time to find us. We are float number 13 out of 38.

We are walking behind a classic car (Thanks to Emily's Dad) towing a trailer with our environmental Christmas trees on it. Under the trees will be gifts that we will donate to local charities. Please bring something along if you can.

Please wear your Brooklyn School T Shirt (or plain black T shirt) with black bottoms, shorts, tights, skirt etc

On you head, please have something Christmassy, tinsel, Christmas hat, sparkly headband, reindeer antlers etc

Please collect your child/children as soon as you can from Woodlands Ave or Wakawera Street (probably best just to follow the float along), being 13th, this gives the children time to watch the rest of the parade.
