Mrs. Salemi's Classroom News!
September 2020
Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!
The first week of school was filled with many laughs, memories, and fun! We have been getting to know one another, discussing expectations, and building a classroom community based around trust and respect. I applaud this new 4th grade class as many of them have been successful adapting to this temporary learning experience. Both the students (and myself) look forward to being in the classroom together (in the near future).
For now-we will make the most of this change. Smile often, encourage one another and work hard. We are all stronger than ever together! :)
Thanks for your support,
Mrs. Salemi
Tips to help make your child have a successful remote learning experience
- Make sure your child has their own comfortable learning space
- Supplies needed for learning readily available
- Chromebooks should be charged and taken care of properly
- Arrive to 63 Online on time--School starts at 8:15am and ends at 2:25pm
- Follow the schedule (Mrs. Salemi's learning plans)-set a timer or alarm to help!
- Take movement breaks as they are on the schedule--this will help re-charge for the next subject area
- Communicate-make sure your child asks questions and shares how they are feeling about remote learning and school assignments with Mrs. Salemi
- Support your child when needed-check in with them to make sure they understand
In case this list wasn't enough-check out this Digital Learning Pledge! This is a great resource to go over with your child!
All of these can lead to success and happy learners in this virtual environment! :)
Flipgrid!
- All about their summer
- All about me projects
- First week of 4th grade
It was so fun to watch everyone's presentations! Our class got very creative and are extremely talented in the technology department. :)
Seesaw at a glance!
Seesaw is a student-driven digital portfolio! Students are able to create, connect, and complete a variety of activities through this digital platform. We have been using Seesaw A LOT this year so far! Here are just some of the activities we have done this school year:
- Math About Me
- Three Truths and a LIe
- My Wish (for this school year)
- Reading Survey
- Writing Questionnaire
...and much more! The benefit of Seesaw is that families can also see their child's work/assignments. If you haven't already done so, please click here to connect and join our Seesaw family!
Student Interest Survey!
- I like school because...
- If I could change one thing about school it would be...
- How do you feel about participating in class discussions?
- What do you like to do for fun outside of school?
It was wonderful to read the student's responses which will help me get a better understanding of their interests in both school and home!
