Principal's Message - September
Here are more signals that we're having a normal start to the school year:
- PTA Penny Wars - begin Tuesday, Sept 6th and last through the month. Each classroom has a collection bucket in the Commons. Donate pennies or paper bills for points while silver coins take points off. The trick is to donate the silver coins to your competitor so your classroom can win. (see flyer below)
- School Picture Day - Sept 7th. Look for flyers from our photography company for our Wednesday School Picture Day.
- Arctic Light Elem Open House - Sept 13th 5:30-6:30pm. Teachers review classroom routines and expectations. School-wide programs (like our Annual Title I) are reviewed in the Gym at 6:15pm.
- Mid-Quarter Grades - are Sept 16th. The first quarter is already flying by.
- Volunteers - thank you to our volunteers who have helped with field trips, recess, and work around the school. Let us know if you are interested in volunteering at our school.
- Donations for those in need - if you're feeling generous, students need funds and/ or food while at school. Let us know if you can help.
Welcome to Mrs. Leola Williams-Humphreys our permanent Kindergarten teacher. She will be joined by Krista Outlaw, Kinder Aide, to complete our newest Kindergarten classroom. We have a lot of Kindergarteners this year.
Welcome to Karla Rosado who will join Ms. Colbert as her permanent Kindergarten Aide. We appreciate our new hires as it is a tight labor market.
As the weather gets cooler, remember gym/ classroom shoes can stay in the classroom. Boots can be worn back and forth to school. This keeps everything a bit cleaner.
Remember Schoolcafe.com for your school menu and application for free/ reduced meals. These applications are what fund our Title I educational programs.
Keep in touch.

Our first month's poll results are in! We asked students what they did this summer, and here is how they responded:
27 students went swimming, 15 went hiking, 22 saw friends, 32 travelled, 13 moved, and 13 did something else!
It is always really cool to learn more about our kiddos. This month's poll will be up soon!

Dad: Some alligators can grow up to 15 feet!
Teenager: But most only have four.
I read an article the other day that said nothing rhymes with purple.
I knew it was fake - nothing and purple don’t rhyme!
