NCCVT MISSION
To provide superior Career and Technical Education enabling all students to achieve their aspirations.
CTE Prime
1. Congratulations to all our students who participated in Skills USA and other competitions. It was a great month of competition. I look forward to hearing the results.
2. Delaware Contractor's Association held a Career's in Construction forum with about 25 of our students. Our students were able to hear from those in the field and learn more about the various jobs available.
Weekly Brief
1. A very special thank you to Kathy, Debbie and Lori for all their hard work with admissions. It is a monumental task that really is ongoing. The admissions team processed over 2100 applications and we accepted over 1600, which is unbelievable. Thank you, Kathy and team!
2. Delcastle hosted Senator Delcollo, Representative Williams, and Representative Baumbach as a part of our CTE Month Awareness effort. Last week, Hodgson hosted Representative Osienski. These efforts help communicate our mission and how we are changing the lives of our students. Thank you!
3. Attended the Reach Riverside community awareness meeting. Riverside is going through a community revitalization and is looking for ways to spread awareness. The Teen Warehouse, which Howard is partnering with, is an integral part of their mission. If you want to learn more, visit here.
4. Met with Matt Meyer County Executive regarding NCCVT and our Adult Education Division.
5. Howard is going to offer a Teacher Academy and an Early Childhood Education program next year. This effort is a proactive approach for Howard to help tackle the growing workforce issue we are facing in education. We are in the process of looking at space within the 1927 building and believe we've found the perfect location!
Up Ahead: March. In like a lion and out like a lamb.
- This week is Women in Construction Week. I would love to see some great photos on Twitter on how women are strong force within the trades.
- ACE mentoring breakfast. This is an incredible program that we are fortunate to be a part of each year. Find out more here.
- Best of luck for all our Juniors taking the SAT on the 4th.
- Chief School Officer's retreat. I will be away on the 5th and 6th, please reach out to Gerald as the primary point of contact in my absence.
For those of you that love the weather, here is some great March weather lore:
- A dry March and a wet May? Fill barns and bays with corn and hay.
- As it rains in March, so it rains in June.
- March winds and April showers? Bring forth May flowers.
- So many mists in March you see, so many frosts in May will be.
