Week 36 Updates

May 16-20, 2016

13 more days left :(

But let's talk about some good news:

*C22 Heroes went to Cabrillo Aquarium on Wednesday. It was very fun to learn about different sea animals and creatures! Pictures will be posted on Shutterfly this week!

*One of the prizes we have won as 2nd place at Jog-A-Thon is an ice cream party. Thanks to the generous donor who is also the parents of our Ethan, it's happening on Friday! Yum!

*We reached 30 minutes for Reader's Workshop. Talking about stamina! We will celebrate our effort by watching My Neighbor Totoro (G rated) on 6/1. On June 1, we will also conduct a special class recognition award ceremony!

Please continue to read for upcoming events and dates!

Memorial Day- No School

Monday, May 30th, 12am

Field Elementary School

School will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony

Thursday, June 2nd, 9-10:30am

Field Elementary School

Where: the black top behind the kindergarten playground (go toward where we have Friday morning assembly)

Dress Code: Free dress, but all clothing must adhere to the school dress code. No spaghetti straps, open-toed shoes, etc.

Please drop off your child to the classroom between 8:25-8:45. Students do not go on the playground. Then you may want to head down to the blacktop to get a good spot!

Since it is a short day, most parents choose to take their child to brunch/lunch after the celebration ceremony. Please remember to sign your child out at the office after the ceremony if he/she will be leaving school early. PLEASE let me know by email or a note if you DO NOT plan to leave with your child after the ceremony. The list will help me to gather the group of students and make sure they return to the classroom with me!

The ceremony should end at 10am. It will follow by a breakfast potluck. The room parents will send out an email regarding utensils/food/drink sign-ups!

Last Day of School

Thursday, June 2nd, 9:45am-1:30pm

Field Elementary School

Dismissal is at 1:25pm!

Principal's Message

1) Better Chinese Online Account

Please CONTINUE to have your child work on Better Chinese reading as part of their daily homework. This is a very valuable resource the school has purchased to help parents in supporting Mandarin learning at home. Once you log-in, you will see the assignment under "Assignment Messages". If you only have access to an iPad, you may download a free application called Puffin Web Browser and it shall allow you to access the BC account.

2) Khan Academy (optional)

Please take advantage of Khan Academy as it is a great resource for your child to practice math skills taught in class or challenge with more math concepts. If your child answer more questions correctly, the website will adapt and give harder problems. It will also make the problems easier if the child is struggling with answering them. After enrolling your child to my "class", I will also be able to see his/her progress. If you need specific recommendations or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In the "add a coach" field, please enter class code 78TY9E

3) Class Facebook and Instagram

Please follow our class on social media to get a glimpse of C22Heroes in actions! It's also another way to connect with one another. You may also share it with friends and family members. :)
