Welcome Back Boulder Oaks Eagles!
2020-2021
Hello Boulder Oaks Families!
I hope you and your family are doing well and are safe and healthy through this unprecedented time. I am delighted to be serving as your child's principal. While I'm excited to begin the new school year, I also understand many, including myself, are concerned and anxious about what this year may bring with all of the unknowns of COVID-19. Please be assured that our commitment to provide your student with the best education possible remains the same. We are dedicated to ensuring that our mission of creating a nurturing learning environment built on deep and long-lasting relationships continues even through Distance Learning.
As you are aware, there have been some changes to dates in the school year. The first day of school is August 20th, and April 5th is no longer a professional development day for teachers and is now a student day. Additionally, August 20 and 21st are dedicated to the teachers meeting and assessing each student individually over Zoom. This will allow them the opportunity to get to know your child on more of a personal level, and they will be able to gather some much-needed data to address learning needs as soon as instruction begins. Distance Learning will officially launch with the entire class on Monday, August 24th. On Wednesday, August 19th, you will be able to log into Parentvue to see your student's teacher. You will also receive communication from your child's teacher that day with a date and time for their one on one meeting and other details about the class. Your child will also be provided with his or her Google account information so that he or she can access Google Classroom.
Our Back to School Night will also take place on August 19th. There will be two sessions that you can attend if you have more than one student at Boulder Oaks. The first session will be at 5:30 pm and the second at 6:15 pm. You will receive Zoom links from your teachers to access the presentation. The teachers will be walking you through Google classroom and show you everything you need to know to make sure your child is successful on the first day of Distance Learning, August 24th. I hope that you can attend this significant evening.
To ensure our students are prepared for the first day of school, we have scheduled dates and times for Chromebooks (if needed) and materials to be picked up by parents. August 20th and 21st will be material distribution day. Each parent needs to come to the BOES auditorium between 9:00 and 12:00 to pick up supplies for your student. This will include consumables as well as other items that your teacher has gathered for her class. Additionally, school supplies such as crayons, pencils, and paper will be available if needed. When you arrive, please wear a mask and use the social distancing protocol of six feet while waiting in line. Chromebooks will also be available on the 18th and 19th from 9:00-12:00 if you need to check one out sooner.
I am beyond appreciative of each one of you. You are once again being asked to do something incredibly challenging, and I am in awe of your resilience and your willingness to partner with us to make this year the very best that it can be. By all of us "sticking together" we will accomplish great things in the 2020-2021 school year.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything!
I cannot wait to "see" all of our Eagles over Zoom on the 24th!
Most sincerely,
Jenna Weinert

AUSD Plan for Reopening Schools
The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted every facet of our lives. Each of us has been forced to make changes to our daily life that would have been unimaginable prior to this moment in time. Our goal is to create a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment where our students can find their passions and reach their potential. We have taken the guidance provided by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), California Department of Education, and other agencies to develop our plan for reopening schools.
Chromebooks
Students and parents are responsible for district-owned technology property that is issued to them, just as they are for other district-owned items such as textbooks and other materials.
AUSD recognizes that there is a need to protect the investment by both the district and the student/parent. If the device is damaged, the district will repair or replace it, but students/parents will be responsible for the cost of those repairs or replaced devices. However, the liability on families/students can be reduced significantly by taking part in the district’s Chromebook Protection Plan program. For $25 (non-refundable) per year, per device, the Chromebook Protection Plan program will repair or replace the device one (1) time with no deductible.
The Protection Plan program covers accidental damage. It does NOT cover loss, theft, damage by flood/fire/intentional destruction. The district strongly recommends purchasing our Chromebook protection plan.
Distance Learning Schedule
Distance Learning will mirror as much of a regular school day as possible. Please see below for a sample schedule.
Welcome our new BOES Eagles!
Amy-Jo Lange (Educational Specialist)
Hello!
My name is Amy-Jo Lange, and I am so excited to be joining the BOES team as an RSP teacher for the 2020-21 school year! I received my Master's degree from the University of San Diego with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction, and I have both a Multiple Subject and Education Specialist credential. I have always had a love and appreciation for education and our youth, but I also have a passion for entertainment and technology! I received my B.A. in Film and Electronic Arts and I aim to combine my knowledge of instruction and technology and incorporate it into my classroom in order to support the diverse and exceptional needs of my students. It is my goal to ensure that my classroom is an arena for students to hone their skills, manifest their interests, and reflect on their accomplishments as educated individuals. I am so thankful to be able to be a part of the BOES family and am eagerly awaiting the start of our journey for this school year!
Katrina Skjonsby (Educational Specialist)

I want to make a positive impact on my student’s lives and assist them in expanding their knowledge to be successful in their futures. I want to help shape them to be productive, respectful, and responsible citizens of our society. It is my goal to make my classroom a welcoming and safe environment for all students.
