Southwestern Earns AP Honor Roll!
- Increase in access to Advanced Placement by at least 11% per yer in a small district.
- The minimum threshold of 10% of AP Exams scoring 3 or better is required before a district can be recognized for expanding participation and performance.
- Improved performance levels when comparing the percentage of students in 2017 scoring a 3 or higher to those in 2015, unless the district has already attained a performance level at which more than 70% of its AP students are scoring a 3 or higher.
In addition to receiving this honor, Southwestern is also recognized for being an AP Honor Roll member multiple times. Please click on the link below to see our corporation listed.
“We congratulate these school districts for their expansion and excellence in the Advanced Placement program. The commitment from the administration and teachers paired with the hard work of students resulted in this noteworthy accomplishment,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Congratulations, administrators and teachers, for providing our Spartans with the opportunity to enroll in AP courses and supporting their continuous academic advancements. Congratulations to our Spartans for their hard work in their AP courses and exams! We are proud of you!

Spartans Participate in Hour of Code™ at ACMECorp.com
Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet. But fewer than half of all schools teach computer science. Good news is, we’re on our way to change this! If you've heard about the Hour of Code before, you might know it made history. More than 100 million students have tried an Hour of Code.
With the Hour of Code, computer science has been on homepages of Google, MSN, Yahoo!, and Disney. Over 100 partners have joined together to support this movement. Every Apple Store in the world has hosted an Hour of Code, and leaders like President Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote their first lines of code as part of the campaign. The 'Hour of Code™' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week[csedweek.org] and Code.org[code.org] to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming. You can read more about the event at http://hourofcode.com/.
Our Spartans participated in Hour of Code last week at Southwestern Elementary School and Southwestern Junior - Senior High School.
