Kia ora e te whānau,
It has been a privilege to welcome your children to Te Kura Waenga Whakangungu O Takapuna this week. We have enjoyed reconnecting with our Year 8 learners returning in 2022 and forming new connections with our new Year 7 and 8 whānau.
Attendance this week has been pleasingly high and we have very much appreciated your support in ensuring your child is in their uniform, arriving to school on time and wearing a mask. To further support us, please ensure your child has at least two masks at school in case one becomes soiled or broken.
Over the first two weeks, our learners are being reminded about and introduced to how our IB curriculum, the Primary Years Programme, works in our school. Of course, there will also be a lot of learning around making connections with one another, orientating themself with our school and learning routines.
We are glad to be able to offer a few extra-curricular sports activities at this time and we are looking forward to a lowered Protection Framework setting so that we can offer arts, cultural and academic activities too.
Our EOTC programme is on track for the end of the term and further details will be shared with you at the end of next week.
Itinerant music lessons are available and are going ahead at red setting. You'll find more information in the newsletter below.
Thank you again for helping to make your child’s transition a smooth one. We look forward to meeting and working with you this year.
Ngā mihi,
Kate Surgison
Acting Principal
