Message from the Principal
A STRONG FINISH TO THE END!
It’s hard to believe that the third quarter of school will be coming to a close soon. As the year winds down, and the weather gets better, it takes an intentional effort to support our children in having a strong finish to the school year by coming to school each day. School attendance is a powerful predictor of student outcomes. Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school year, or about 17 days, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month! Research also shows that when students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
Here are some suggestions to keep your child coming to school each day:
•Keep each day routines as consistent as possible such as meal time and bed time.
•Make it a nightly routine of preparing the school backpack for the next school day.
•Set an after school “break” activity as a reward for the hard work completed at school.
•Ask each night for your child to share something to look forward to at school the next day.
•Keep dialogue open around any issues that may be coming up for your child during the school day. Problem solve with your child possible solutions.
Taking a few intentional steps in preparing your child for the remaining months of school will make sure that a strong finish is accomplished which will lead into a well-deserved summer break!

Highlight on our current artist:
Ansel Adams 1902-1984
Ansel Adams changed the perception of photography during his lifetime. It was viewed as a nice hobby, but Ansel Adams transformed it into an accepted art form with his keen eye and stunning photographs.
Our current project: black & white pictures taken by students, inspired by Ansel Adams
