Principal's Message

Dear Lawton Families,

We are all so excited to welcome all our families to the 2020-21 school year! While we are in virtual mode to start the school year, we are committed to supporting all our students and families experience a wonderful beginning to the school year.

The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday’s goal is to get ALL students engaged in the planned activities. So, use the classroom specific link shared by each teacher, starting at 8:10 AM, please go directly there Tuesday morning. Don’t miss what our teachers have planned for you! Check your spam folder if you don't see it by now.

If you are having trouble locating your classroom on Tuesday, this Lawton School Zoom Link is our virtual space to help support you getting to the right location, It will be open Tuesday through Friday from 7:45 p.m. - 9:45 a.m. each day. Student Orientation - First Week Schedule

We will launch the 2020-21 school year fully virtually on Tuesday, September 8th, at 8:10 a.m. Each day of school this week, Tuesday-Friday is a scheduled half day of school, where the students’ school day will end at 11:20 a.m.

The first week of school is designed for students to engage in community building, connect/reconnect with their classmates and to get acclimated to an online learning environment. Students will connect to their classroom via Zoom.

Monday, September 14: Full Day Instruction Begins for Everyone

All students begin full daily instruction on Monday, September 14. Each day begins with a classroom Morning Meeting at 8:10am. You can find the sample daily schedule here. This is a general overview of the day. Detailed schedules will be provided by classroom teachers with more information about exact times that students will be synchronous and asynchronous once they are developed. The first week of full day instruction will include a schedule of special classes (Art, Vocal Music, PE, PLTW and World Language/Instrumental Music-5th grade only).

Schoology/Clever Badges

A letter will be coming through US mail with information for your child’s Schoology and Clever Badge access. Click here to preview that letter. Enclosed in the mailing are 1-2 badges depending on your child's grade level.

Please remember the QR code is specific to each individual child. Please keep your child’s badges in a safe place. It is also helpful to take a picture with your phone to have a backup copy to scan. They will need these badges to join the virtual learning classroom and school each day when full day instruction begins.

School Supplies, Books, and Materials

Students will receive school supplies, textbooks and materials within the next upcoming weeks after the start of the school year and throughout the fall. More details will come regarding distribution. In addition, over the coming weeks, students will have 24/7 access to books for class and enrichment via a Digital Library.
