Back to School Nights are In-Person!

It's that time of year again. Santa Margarita will be hosting "In-Person" Back to School Nights next week.


Wednesday, 9/7 5:30 - 6:30 Elementary

Thursday, 9/8 5:30 - 6:30 Middle School

Girls on the Run Coaches Needed

Have you heard!?! GOTRSD is coming back to Santa Margarita this fall! GOTR teams are led by trained and certified volunteer Coaches who are often teachers, school staff, parents/guardians, and amazing community members! We are seeking 3 coaches (1 Head and 2 Assistant Coaches) to help lead the Santa Margarita Heart & Sole team. Please consider volunteering to assist our GOTR team for Santa Margarita this year!


About Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is an international nonprofit that offers programs to strengthen 3rd-8th grade

girls’ social, emotional, physical, and behavioral skills. Girls on the Run is one of the only

youth development programs with compelling evidence that proves participants learn life skills and then use them in other aspects of their lives. The Girls on the Run curriculum empowers program participants to build confidence and successfully navigate life experiences. Over the course of the program, physical activity serves as a platform for teaching interpersonal skills and promoting holistic health outcomes.

Program Start: 9/12/2022

Team Schedule: Mon 3:00- 500 PM

Program Fee: $15

Drop-off and Pick-up

Your child's safety is our utmost priority. In an effort to maintain that safety and keep a continuous flow for our drop-off and pick-up we ask that you keep the following in mind:
  • Pull all the way forward to allow for the maximum amount of cars to drop-off or pick-up
  • Have your child's backpack and other items in easy reach for a quick exit from the vehicle
  • If you are walking a student to the gate, please park in the lot and escort them across
  • Students should exit the passenger side of the car or be escorted by an adult
  • Be aware of pedestrians crossing from the parking area to sidewalk

Thank you for your consideration when dripping off and picking up your students.

Breakfast and Lunch

Please Note: Breakfast is served from 7:45 - 8:10 daily. If your student is dining with us, please have them here early enough to get and eat their breakfast before the first bell. Second chance breakfast is no longer available. If you wish your student to have a snack during morning recess, please send one with them.

If you have not already done so, please visit your Aeries profile and complete the data confirmation. This ensures that we have the most up-to-date information for your student and family.

MOSQUITO PATROL

We are experiencing a monsoonal weather pattern. With this type of weather comes mosquitos. Please consider spraying your student with repellent, outfitting them with repellent bracelet or mosquito protection of your choice. Our Health Tech has been very busy providing relief for our students with bites.

Camp Pendleton has frequent pellet drops in the areas surrounding the school to help mitigate the issue. The next drops will be Sept. 23 and Sept. 30 & Oct. 1.

Safety Information

The Oceanside Unified School District is committed to maintaining safe and secure campuses in order to promote the health, and well-being of our students, families, and staff. The following prevention practices are in place to support the safety and security of our school.


  • In September, all of our staff will participate in an Active Assailant training where we will learn and practice response protocols for keeping our students safe in the unlikely situation involving an armed intruder.
  • Our school regularly practices disaster and evacuation drills with our students and staff, including a minimum of two lockdown drills per year.
  • Our school has the support of the Provost Marshall Office (PMOs) who provide a police presence, are regular visitors on our campus, and who will respond to any safety issues that arise at any of our schools.
  • Our school has the Raptor Visitor Management System which tracks all visitors or volunteers entering campus. Authorized visitors are then presented with a clearly marked identification badge.
  • Our school has a comprehensive Crisis Response Plan that is reviewed annually with all staff, and placed in all classrooms, that details how to safely respond to specific emergency situations.
