Senior Year Scheduling Update
IMPORTANT Deadlines
- Now through March 15th- Course request changes will be honored as long as graduation is not impacted.
- March 16th- April 30th- Course request changes will honored IF there is room in the class being requested.
- May 1st- No changes will honored beyond this date unless required due to failure of a course.
Area 31 Student Applications are due on March 3rd
Working to Get College Ready-NOW
1. Take ACT/SAT during Junior Year
2. Visit Colleges of Interest- Juniors and seniors are given 2 excused days per year.
3. Research college admission websites to ensure you know the requirements.
4. Complete the Biography in Naviance- This helps Mr. Douglas, Mrs. Mehrtens, and teachers write meaningful letters of recommendations.
Students were given details about all of these and more during our one-on-one scheduling meetings.

2. Organize yourself
- Continue researching schools of interest
- Narrow your college list ( 4-6 is a good number)
- Make a spreadsheet including importation for each college (deadlines, materials required, application options, cost, etc.)
- Research the Common Application and its member schools at www.commonapp.org
- Send SAT and ACT scores from your SAT/ACT accounts to schools o n your list.
3. Begin working on the college applications essay if schools on your list require one
- Visit undergraduate Admissions websites for information on essay prompt
- Visit www.commonapp.org for the 2020-2021 common app essay prompts
How do I know the admission requirements of various colleges?
1. Every college has an admissions website which defines their requirements. Do a quick Google search if you don't know the address.
2. This is a great question to ask when you are attending various college fairs. You can get the information directly from the reps present.
3. Naviance has a lot of information about admissions. Visit the "College" section and start searching.
4. Go on college campus visits- This information is shared during their presentations.
IMPORTANT Immunization Information for Grade 12

Beginning in 2014, all students are required to update their vaccinations for grade 12.
Requirements are:
●Hepatitis A (2 doses) now required for all grade levels starting August 2020
●HPV has been added as a recommendation for grades 6-12
●Annual influenza has been added as a recommendation for all ages.
●Meningococcal MCV4 second dose is still a requirement for grade 12.
(Please note: Meningococcal Serogroup B (MenB) has remained a recommendation for grade 12.)

Transition Fair for Students with Special Needs and Their Families
The event brings together over 50 agencies that provide higher education, job training, employment, day programs, living options, and health services to adults with disabilities. Students and their families can talk with agency representatives, pick up informational brochures, and get their questions answered as they consider their plan for transitioning from school to adulthood. We will also have two breakout sessions featuring ARC of Indiana presenting information regarding Supported Decision Making and Indiana ABLE Authority, presenting information on the ABLE accounts.

Registration is open for the 2020 STEM Summer Workshops at the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI. Our one-week camps provide hands-on learning opportunities that improve students’ computer skills. Faculty from the School of Informatics and Computing teach the sessions and help students to explore in-demand career options.
Only students entering grades 9-12 may register. Need-based workshop scholarships available-see website below.
