Spotlight on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are full of history and offer countless benefits for students, the communities they serve, and even the economy. There are now 101 accredited HBCUs located in 19 states, the District of Columbia, and the US Virgin Islands. Read more about HBCUs in this CollegeXpress Article HERE.

Black College Expo- Virtual College Fair Events
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, Black College Expo will be hosted LIVE virtually until we can continue back to physical events. The Black College Expo events are ONLINE Experiences for students to get access to colleges, highlighting HBCUs, historically black colleges and universities, and other educational programs.
Students can get ACCEPTED on the SPOT! College Application FEES Waived, and get SCHOLARSHIPS on the spot! It was developed due the impact COVID-19 pandemic that has affected students and families, especially when it comes to college access. This event will help high school seniors looking for a college home and college transfer students looking to transfer to a four year college.

Go4Brains University of MN Summer Experience
Go4Brains is a week long, paid, summer experience for Twin Cities high school students from historically underrepresented groups. The goal is to learn more and get excited about Neuroscience (brains!) and related careers.
The application process is a single page plus one reference.

SAVE THE DATE- Virtual College Exploration for Minnesota Students March 9-11, 2021
We are excited to announce Minnesota’s Virtual College Exploration for ALL Minnesota high school students. There will be 20 panel presentations on popular topics and several 6x6 information sessions involving over 150 colleges from 29 states and 3 countries. Students from across the state can learn about colleges, the application process, and financial aid.
Students should register for each session that they want to attend. Once they register, they’ll receive a confirmation email with their unique link to join the Zoom webinar.When students register, they are sharing their registration information only with colleges presenting on that particular panel. StriveScan does not sell or share personally identifiable student information with any other third parties. Students should participate live so they can ask questions and interact with the college admission counselors. If students are unable to attend live, we still encourage them to register for the sessions they are interested in and recordings will be available here later. EHS College/Military Visits
The admission representatives that visit Eagan high school are the same people that review college applications. EHS College visits will be hosting virtual visits this year.
Students can view scheduled visits by logging into their Naviance Student account. A link for the virtual visit will be available to join the day of the college visit. We ask that students do not miss class for these visits. College visits are added daily, so students are encouraged to log into Naviance to see updates.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Event
Collins Aerospace in partnership with Million Women Mentors – MN is hosting a virtual “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” Event. This event aims to inspire the next generation of female engineers with activities such as a panel and mentorship break-out groups. This event will take place on February 25th from 9-11am CST. Perry Virtual Experience- For Women Interested in Engineering and Medicine
Perry Virtual Experience will take place in March, 2021. The Perry Virtual Experience is a free, 2.5-hour, interactive online experience for high school and college-aged women who are interested in pursuing careers in orthopaedic surgery and engineering. Participants will hear from women leaders in these fields and dive into online orthopaedic simulations and biomechanics experiments. Concordia Language Villages- Summer Programs

Community Learning Session: Parenting in a Pandemic
MDH and SAVE invite you to join us for a new community learning session. The session is one hour long, and will create space to learn and discuss suicide prevention best practices.
The next event will discuss parenting in a pandemic, and will focus on recognizing parents in their dual role as parents and teachers, and the challenges created because of the pandemic. We will also share strategies for coping as adults try to manage everything between home, work, uncertainty, and fears. Register – Parenting in a Pandemic Feb, 23, 2021 from 9-10 a.m.
Youth Mental Health First Aid FREE Virtual Trainings
M Health Fairview Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge, or is in crisis.
The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
