Morning Announcements
Today's Community Flipgrid
It's Fabulous Flex Friday!
We all have lots of stories to tell! So JC authors...if you were going to write a book, what would it be about? Would it be fiction or nonfiction? A picture book or a chapter book? Can't wait to hear what we can look forward to reading someday!
Looking for a fun Flex Friday Field Trip?
If you're looking for something fun and different to do, I've really been enjoying the daily Home Safaris from the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden on Facebook! Every afternoon at 3:00 pm they are live online talking about one of the interesting animals or a part of their botanical garden. Today is Endangered Species Day and they will be highlighting the Western Lowland Gorilla! Have your parents tune in with you here: Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens
If you've missed any of the past safaris, you can go to the link below and check them out! Some of my personal favorites are the Tamandua, the Clouded Leopard, and the Galapagos Tortoises! There are also quizzes and some fun activities you can do. Check them out!
Social Emotional Learning
At Julian Curtiss, and as a district, we focus a great deal on social-emotional learning with the understanding that it is a crucial part of student success. Children need social-emotional skills to thrive both in the classroom and in life. Social-emotional learning (SEL) curricula teach children techniques to:
Gain confidence
Set goals
Make better decisions
Collaborate with others in work and play
Navigate the world more effectively
In GPS, we address SEL through the use of our district norms and related activities, as well as through the Second Step program. In order to continue this focus while we are in Distance Learning, the following resources have been developed to help support our norms with activities that can easily be done at home. This week's norm is Be Here.
Please note that these are optional activities that can be done on Flex Friday or when your child has completed other work.
If you do complete any of these activities, please send photos to either Mrs. Brush or myself - we would love to see them!
The links to activities for each grade level are below:
Linked below is a presentation for parents about SEL and Distance Learning.
