March Edition
Picking electives for 8th grade year
Mr. Frint will be going to all science classes the week of March 23rd for students to rank order their elective class preferences for the following school year. It's important for students to make informed decisions as choices are limited and no changes will be made next school year unless an error is made by Mr. Frint or by administrator permission. Below is an attachment for the 2020-2021 course catalog for electives.
Please remember if you desire to leave band or orchestra - parent contact must be made before removal. It is highly encouraged you do so before May 1st as we will be working on schedules already and your child will lose their top choices as certain classes fill up quickly.
Elective classes offered are subject to change without advanced notice.
Counseling Corner with Frint
Anyone else got the end of the 3rd 9 weeks blues? Across 7th grade I have noticed a real mental and emotional fog the past few weeks. We are in the transition period between winter and spring; basketball/bowling (winter sports) and waiting for all the fun spring sports; the transition of 7th grade almost being over (3 months left) and being at the top of the mountain (8th grade.) Pushing across the finish line for this grading period is always one of the toughest parts of 7th grade. The question becomes, with only one week of the grading period left, how are you going to finish?
The month of February was really full with heavy social emotional needs for the Class of 2025. I can't stress strongly enough sitting down and talking with your children, monitoring their technology and just checking in to see how they are doing. I'd also consider re-evaluating their goals for the rest of the school year. Based off the grades checks I did at random intervals this grading period, there was a real dip in grades and an increase in missing assignments. Hoping we can refocus the last quarter.
The month of March will be spent working on the future as students will be picking their future electives, inputting their choices into the computer and a long-term research project evaluating the needs of the Class of 2025.
If you have questions, as always don't hesitate to contact me.
