Students with any type of sickness symptoms are not permitted to come to school
This is an important reminder that students who have any type of sickness symptoms (cold, runny nose, fever, nausea, stomach issues, headaches, body aches, etc.) are not permitted to come to school. These are the same guidelines from last school year. In addition, if you are waiting results from a COVID test, please wait for the results of the test before you return to school.
These important GCPS precautions are for the daily health and safety of our students and staff.
Thank you for your support in this important matter!
Our afternoon bus dismissal has been much later than in previous years. Unfortunately, our district has a shortage of bus drivers. Until this situation is corrected, five of our drivers take one group of students home and come back to the school a second time to pick up a second group of students. We are working hard to help the drivers leave Richards as quickly as possible.
We know that this is a tremendous inconvenience to you. If you know anyone that is interested in applying for a bus driver position in our area, please direct them to the district website https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/24637 to reach the Transportation Department Applications.
Important Reminder about Electronics
It's time for Intramurals at RMS! The program will start the week of August 23 and will run every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. We will rotate through basketball, flag football, volleyball, and soccer. The hours will be from 7:15-a.m – 8:55 a.m.
All students must have current immunizations to attend school. The GA Department of Public Health requires that all students enrolled, including students who are attending as digital learners have a current GA Form #3231 Certificate of Immunization. Vaccinations and certificates of immunization can be obtained from your private physician or at the following local health department office. The Lawrenceville Health Center is the closest one to Richards MS.

Free and Reduced Lunch
Please apply! Information about beginning of the year and how to apply can be found here. Remember, you need to reapply every school year in order to keep receiving assistance.
In order to keep everyone safe and healthy, please remember these four things we expect our students to do to help:
- Masks -- Masks are required in all GCPS facilities.
- Practice Hand Hygiene -- Students will be given opportunities to wash their hands and should do so at these times. Additionally, each classroom will have hand sanitizer available for student use.
- Maintain Physical Distancing -- Follow your teacher's guidelines for walking in the hallway; stay to the right and walk in a line.
- Stay Home When Sick -- It's important for students to stay home if they have COVID-19 symptoms, if they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, are awaiting test results, or have tested positive.
Throughout the day, students and teachers will clean work areas to avoid spreading the virus.
Richards Middle is working hard every day to ensure the safety of everyone in our building.
