A Message from Mr. Collins
Parents,
I strongly urge you not to take your children out of school ahead of or after a long weekend. It is important that the students are in class to learn. Especially this year, given that we don't know what the next week will bring related to in-school learning.
I have also urged teachers not to take days off for the long weekend. We are blessed to have many holidays in our calendar. Please respect the class time as much as possible to give your child the opportunity he/she deserves to learn.
In light of Hurricane Marco, we took off two days of school (August 24 and 25). Therefore, we will have school on Monday, October 26. Originally, this date was the Monday after the fair, but we will not have a fair this year. Thank you for your understanding. Please update your calendars.
Thank you,
Christopher Collins, M.Ed.
Principal
SPIRIT DAY/ PAPA JOHN'S PIZZA NIGHT
Spirit Day attire consists of the following: Proper attire consists of the spirit T-shirt and any shoe, pant, or shorts which are allowed on “Dress Down” days. No baseball caps or hats of any kind may be worn. (School Handbook 900-4)
Socks and any non-marking rubber sole TENNIS SHOES with shoe laces must be worn. Students in Prekindergarten through second grade may wear any non-marking tennis shoes with Velcro closures or Mary Janes with velcro closures.
Pants and shorts must be at the waist with no holes or shredding. They may be no shorter than fingertip length. (School Handbook 900-5)
During Phase II, any student who is not in compliance will receive a uniform violation to be signed by his/her parent and returned to school. If the dress is not in keeping with Catholic School standards, the student's parent will be asked to pick up the student.
During Phase III or beyond: Parents whose children are not in compliance with the Dress Down Guidelines will be called and asked to pick up their children or bring appropriate clothing for them. (School Handbook 900-5)
Thank you for your cooperation.
Car Line and Bus Line Policies & Procedures and Bonne Ecole
PETS: Pets/animals are not allowed on campus – this includes the carline. We ask that parents not bring their pets in the carline because family pets are not familiar with our teachers. Our teachers open the car doors for our students and pets may cause them harm. (School Handbook 1000-28)
TARDIES:Parents must accompany their children to the office if they are tardy. Parents may leave after their children have their temperatures taken and are within the guidelines.
BUS SERVICE BEGINS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7:
School busses will enter from Robert Boulevard and feed into the car line. Busses have the right of way over cars. The traffic duty teacher will monitor the arrival and departure of the busses during the morning and afternoon.
In the morning, busses will pull to the front of the gym. All students will exit the bus and remain in a social distanced line. There will be one duty teacher designated to take their temperatures. If a student presents with a fever, that student will be sent to the office where his/her temperature will be retaken. If still over the limit, the parent will be called to pick up the child.
At dismissal, students will be separated by bus number and seated in a social distanced line in the gym. Busses will pick up students in front of the gym. Although busses will not feed into a car line in the afternoon, they still have the right of way over the car line traffic.
CAR LINE: Car line procedures in the morning and afternoon remain the same, but we do anticipate that the flow will move quicker.
BONNE ECOLE: Our next door neighbor, Bonne Ecole, is starting the school year next Tuesday, September 8. They will be phasing in students over the first four days and the entire school will be in session on Monday, September 14. Since both of our car lines enter off Independence Dr., there may be longer lines than you are currently used to. It would be prudent to leave your houses about 5 to 10 minutes earlier until we see how the car lines and bus transportation works out.
PHASE II UPDATE

Important Information for Parents of 7th Grade Students
The Archdiocese Office of Catholic Schools is currently reviewing the admissions process and high school open house schedule. As soon as we have the new directives, we will post them in the Charger Chronicles. Mr. Osborn will also email and/or provide a hard copy of the admission application and process.
PTO
Board Members: Secretary, President Elect, and Vice President of Fundraising.
Committee Chairs & Members: Teacher Luncheons, Book Fair, Annual Fundraiser, and Spirit Day/Fundraising Nights.
Many people may be hesitant to volunteer for the PTO; but the more people who volunteer, the less work there is for everybody. If you are one of the hesitant parents, ask a friend to volunteer with you ... then your tasks and time will be cut in half AND you will have fun!
Our SMM PTO is an awesome organization. Our PTO provides services and support for our children and school. Our PTO plays an integral part in the success of our school.
