Jeffrey/Mead Team Blog

Math
Each day students participate in a Number Talk which are designed to help students become flexible, accurate and efficient when making calculations. The strategies we are teaching help students solve problems across all four operations. Right now Ms. Jeffrey's class is working on multiplication with partial products as well as halving and doubling. Mrs. Mead's class is working on multiplying up and the big seven. We are also doing some fraction number talks.
In January, Calendar Grid involves algebraic equations and ordered pairs. For Calendar Collector, students are multiplying fractions by whole numbers with the context of tine and money.
Mrs. Mead's class has a little bit more to do in Unit 2. This week we focused on multiplying a fraction by a whole number. We will be taking the post assessment early next week and the pre assessment for Unit 3 as well.
Mrs. Jeffrey's class has moved onto Unit 3 which focuses on decimals, metric conversions and division. Below is the unit overview.
