CCC STAFF UPDATE
1/6/19
Info for Everyone
- I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a peaceful new year! I look forward to seeing you all on Monday! I hope your vacation rolled out slowly and you were able to rest and enjoy time with family and loved ones.
- We are returning to some rainy days ahead. This is a great time to review procedures with students and allow extra time for travel to and from locations.
- PBIS lesson this week focuses on being safe at arrival and dismissal. You can find the link to the lesson here as well as on the Google Calendar: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B7EgC50qNbvc9oheqMWLfjREVE6Ea7Vav0lgCv9OvAU/edit
- STARSTRUCK: Starstruck is scheduled to start 1/8/19. Optional staff dance will take place on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. This year we will practice in portable H. The performance take place Tuesday 2/12 at Twelve Bridges Middle School. This year Teresa, Nicole and Rosanne are the "planners," with support from Lori and the office with ticket sales.
- Rainy Day procedures: Students have been doing a great job during lunch in the cafeteria. It can get loud but they are following rules and procedures. Please keep reinforcing their good behavior. It makes for a smoother lunch time. We know it can get loud in there, the acoustics in that room are not ideal for large groups, but we make it work.
- Weekly PBIS lessons: Please remember to teach your lesson by Tuesday. It is so helpful when everyone gets the same message. Are you remembering to hand out your ROAR tickets? This week's lesson is being respectful on the playground!
- Some reminders about confidentiality: when sending any type of communication home to families, please remember not to mention any other children by name, this includes notes, emails and behavior referrals. I've seen a few referrals lately that mention other students in the explanation. Please be careful. Also remember, our office and hallways have lots of visitors in them, when speaking about student matters, please step into a more private location to have your conversations so that others do not overhear.
- Safety reminders: Please remember to keep your doors locked at all times. When you are not in the room, please close your door and turn off the lights. If you are entering a room other than your own, such as the book room, OT room or Art Room, please make sure the door is locked and secure behind you by checking the knob and also pulling on the door. We've had some doors left unsecured lately.
- Did you know the Carlin C. Coppin calendar is updated regularly? You can find it on our website. If you are a staff member, you should also have access to it on your own google calendar. We are trying to keep it updated with whole school information. If you have something to add, let me know.
Teacher Central
- iReady diagostic #2 is completed! We will be taking a look at results with the Leadership team and the Intervention team to monitor student progress and design supports as needed. Grade level teams should be taking a look as well and crafting their next round of SMART goals for their grade levels based on the results. What will you be focusing on next? I look forward to seeing your plans in your PLC notes. Please let me know if I can provide you any reports or support.
- PLCs: I also thank you for sharing your PLC notes with me weekly. If you don't already, please consider sharing digitally, it allows me to see them anywhere and I can respond and reply on the shared document which can be helpful. Is there some data I can dig up and/or generate for you? Let me know how I can help.
- Leadership Scheduled for 1/10 at 3pm
- Next Staff Meeting is scheduled for 1/15 @ 3pm
- Professional Development: There is funding to support attending workshops and conferences. Hit me up if you find something of interest to you.
- TOSAs: Remember we have some amazing TOSAs to use as a resource. They can work with you in a very wide variety of ways be it planning, demo lessons, covering your class to free you up to observe someone else, finding resources for you. All you need to do is reach out and ask them.
- UDL follow up: Remember, you can have Ashley Serin come and work with you individually on UDL implementation. She can come and plan with you or do a demo lesson in your room based on whatever lesson you have coming up. Let me know if you are interested individually or even as a grade level. We need to get some dates on the calendar for her, she fills up quickly!
- AVID: Organization is a key focus area for our AVID classes. They are making use of planners, binders and folders to stay organized. Do you have your college corner up in your classroom?
- MTSS: The team meets every Friday from 1:30-2:30. Do you have students that you have concerns with? Please let us know we are here to help. Team members are: Shamryn, Kimber, Corie and Jamie
