Can't Hide Our Hound Pride!

Howdy Hounds!

This is our second edition of the Huggins Paw Print for the 22-23 school year. As we shared last week, our Paw Print serves as the campus newsletter available to our Huggins community and includes important communication, reminders, and upcoming events for our school. Each week, families will receive a Paw Print via Skyalert. Please be sure your Skyward settings in Family Access are set to receive alerts. We will also publish the weekly newsletter on our school website and Facebook page. Please help spread the word about the Paw Print to ensure all of our families have the latest information about our school.

Tomorrow, we offically welcome all of our staff back to school! Over the course of the next two weeks teachers and paraprofessionals will come together to engage in professional development to ensure our Hounds have an exceptional school year. Topics will include curriculum and instruction, school safety, and social/emotional behavior support. Our staff will engage in team building, be setting up their classrooms, and working hard as we count down the minutes until we get to welcome our hounds back to school!

Please remember that school starts Monday, August 22nd. Our doors open at 7:00am. The school day starts at 7:30am, and school dismisses at 2:55pm.

Construction continues to progress on our campus...and we couldn't be more excited! For returning students and families, you will see several changes when you return. Our campus has received new windows, a furniture refresh, and is currently getting a new roof! Our most exciting change is the updated security vestibule. While final construction will not be completed until later this year, the renovations have already lead to several new classrooms, nurse's office, workroom, staff lounge, adult restrooms, administrative offices, and conference room. There have been several questions/concerns regarding safety while construction continues. Please rest assured that we have been working closly with our construction team, School Safety Coordinator, and LCISD Police Department to ensure we are ready to welcome students back to school. And while we understand that the construction is not the most asthetically pleasing at the moment...we guarentee that what we lack in that department for now, we make up for in love for our students! It's a exciting time to be a Huggins Hound!

Please be sure to scroll below to see important back to school reminders! don't forget to come see us at our first annual LCISD Block Party on Saturday, August 13th (see flyer below)!

Thank you to all the families that came out for our back to school spirit night at Freddy's last week! It was so fun seeing familiar faces!

Finally, don't forget to coplete Beginning of Year Forms for your Hounds through Family Access. Details are below, but it is imperative we have everyone's updated information for the 22-23 school year. Class schedules/teacher assignments will not be released on the 15th if forms have not been completed.

Enjoys the last two weeks of summer, and tell our Hounds hello for us!

LCISD Beginning of Year Forms - Action Needed

For the 2022-23 school year, all required Lamar Consolidated ISD beginning-of-year forms must be completed online through the Skyward Family Access Center.

Offering these forms digitally allows you the convenience of only updating information that has changed from last school year, while also helping us maintain accurate information in our student information system. Instructions, important dates and technical assistance regarding the online forms can be found by clicking here. Included on this page is a link to reset your Family Access username/password if you have forgotten it.

Online forms will be available through the Family Access Center starting Aug. 1 and all forms need to be submitted no later than Sept. 16th. Your student’s schedule will not be available online through the Family Access Center until all of the beginning-of-year forms are completed for your student and after the campus has released schedules. Student schedules will be available online on Wednesday, Aug. 17th if all online forms have been completed.

For those who need access to a computer or the Internet, computers will be available on campus Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. starting August 8th.

Huggins Dress Code

Starting with the 22-23 school year, students at Huggins Elementary will not be required to follow a uniform policy. All students must comply with the LCISD Dress Code, as outlined in the Elementary Student Handbook. We encourage all students to wear purple for Charger Thursday, in support of our Fulshear Chargers. We also encourage students to participate in Huggins Spirit Day on Fridays by wearing Huggins shirts and/or red!
