Getting to the ROOT of it!
Students at the Berkowitz spent some of their science time learning about weathering and erosion. This week, classes walked around the playground to find examples of tree root weathering in our own backyard. Students saw first hand examples then discussed and wrote about how roots can break up rocks and create cracks in our sidewalk.
Celebrating Paw Earners
Congratulations to all the Berkowitz Paw earners.
Let's Play Floorball!
Salomon Guevara Alvarado from Ms Power’s 4th grade foundations class is explaining in English and Spanish the rules of Floorball to a third grade foundation class from the Sokolowski school. Hooks and Sokolowski PE classes have truly benefited from Ms Drake and Mrs Stewart’s co teaching model this year.

In an unprecedented move, all five first-grade classes were honored as "Exemplar Classes of the Month" and earned a guest reader! Congratulations, Kelly 1st graders, and thank you Chelsea Rotary Club!
Kindness Leaves
Mr. F's third grade class spent their weekly circle time talking about one of their class values - Be Kind. We discussed what this value means, why so many kids chose it as an important value for our class, and ways we can continue to show it. We also made "Kindness Leaves" to hang up in our classroom so that we can celebrate this value, as well as the change in seasons. It was a lot of fun! It also reminded us of how our values aren't just words we say - they are things we do!
