Causes of the Diseases
A defect in one of the genes that determines how the body makes blood clotting factors VIII or IX. It is sex linked, on chromosome X and is recessive.
The Way Hemophilia Is Diagnosed
The give a blood test if you have heavy bleeding or bad bruising.
Treatments
Clotting factors concentrates can be purified from human donor blood. Drugs to treat it is desmopressin.
People Affected
Only males can get hemophilia and females can carry it. Hemophilia is very rare only about 20,000 Americans have this disorder.
