Murphy Families,

Thank you to all the families that joined us for paint night. It was so much fun!

This is an important week. We celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., an American Hero, on Monday. Then on Wednesday we will inaugurate a new President and the first African American/Asian and female Vice President and if that wasn't enough she is also from the Bay Area.

We do not have classes on Monday. Classes will resume on Tuesday at 10:00am.

On Monday, the City of El Cerrito, El Cerrito Branch NAACP, St. Peter CME Church, and the District will host the 32nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration from 9 am to 12:30 pm. This year’s event is a car parade from the Del Norte BART station to the El Cerrito Plaza BART station. There will be a COVID-safe rally at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station, where you are encouraged to join and decorate your car. You can find more information here.

RISE Center for Racial Justice

Murphy is hosting a 6-week seminar with RISE- Center for Racial Justice. The seminar is an introductory course to raise awareness about difference, equity and racial justice. This course is designed to help prepare, support and empower teachers, parents and community to engage in dialogues with youth and other adults about race and racism and to take inspired anti-racist action for youth in schools.

The course will be 6 weeks and take place on either a Wednesday or Thursday and begin in April. I would like to gauge community interest. If you are interested you must commit to the 6 weeks as space is very limited.

Please complete this short interest form. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out slefebvre@wccusd.net or on Remind.

Please let us know if there is anything you need to better support you or your student(s).
