STAAR Testing
STAAR Testing is next week. Please remember that remote students must be on campus to take the test. Also, if your student’s grade level is not assigned to test on a certain day, then they will be staying home to participate in asynchronous learning for the day. They will have assignments available for them in each of their Google classrooms that they must complete in order to be counted present for attendance purposes. Google Meets classes will not be available on those days. If a student does not complete the assigned work, they will be counted absent for the day.
Need-to-know for testing week:
- Please make sure that your student gets a good night’s rest and eats a good breakfast on their testing days.
- Dress code: During testing week, all students may wear jeans and a college or spirit shirt while on campus. Regular dress code is also acceptable. Sweatpants, leggings, pajamas, blankets, pillows, etc. will not be allowed. Masks will be required on campus.
- All students will need to bring wooden No. 2 pencils, a book to read, their Chromebook, and charger with them to campus. Please make sure Chromebooks are fully charged the night before.
- Students are encouraged to bring their lunch with them on testing days, however, a cafeteria lunch will be available.
- Students will need to bring a water bottle and healthy snacks with them on testing days. Please do not send any messy snacks, such as chips, cookies, or candy.
We are looking forward to a great week and can’t wait for a our Bucs to show off all they have learned this year!

Field Day
Remote Learners
We are offering the opportunity for our remote learners to join us for field day in person, or participate in a remote field day virtually through completing different activities at home. If you would like for your student to participate in person please fill out the form below.
Grade 6 Student Tours
On May 18th and 19th 6th grade students will walk over to visit Burnett during their Social Studies classes. During this trip students will get to tour Burnett and receive more information from the Administration and counselors. Permission slips will be sent out through Social Studies classes next week. If you have a remote student and would like for them to participate in these tours, please complete the Google Form here (https://forms.gle/51cfrCkP5k3ripGN6). The tour will last approximately 20-30 minutes. Parents of remote students are responsible for transportation to and from Burnett. Due to Covid, parents are not allowed to accompany students on the tour at this time and will need to wait in the parking lot. There will be other opportunities over the summer for them to visit Burnett if they are unable to attend the tours in May.
If your student is attending McMillan, they will take their tour on Thursday, April 29th. Permission slips were sent home with these on-campus students today and an email was sent to remote parents. If you have any questions, please contact our 6th grade counselor, Mrs. Rinn.
Remote Learners-Hearing and Vision Screenings
We only have 4 more weeks that we are providing this remote Screening opportunity. We have about 16 open slots if you want to push it out again to your parents. Thanks for all you do!

Water Bottles Needed Daily
Please be sure that your Buccaneer has a refillable water bottle daily. Water fountains are not in use at this time. We have amazing filtered water bottle fillers ready for student use.
Children's Health℠ Telehealth
Children's Health℠ is pleased to offer our new Telehealth at Home program to keep your students healthy from the comfort of their own home. It offers the same benefits and services as our School‑Based Telehealth program and is geared towards the students who are remote learning or have to stay home and might not have access to an on‑campus nurse.
How does Telehealth at Home work?
- Available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- When at home, a parent or guardian may call 844‑483‑5363 to make an appointment and a member of our team will walk them through the necessary steps for a visit.
- A parent or guardian will need to download the Virtual Visit app and complete enrollment prior to a visit.
As always, Children's Health remains committed to providing patients and families with the high quality care you can trust – virtually anywhere. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Chromebook Issues???
We have now introduced a new form where you can report student issues with Chromebooks and accounts. Emails will no longer be accepted, as we do not get the information we need from them.
Please click the link below and submit the information as fully as possible; the more detailed the description the better. We look forward to being able to serve you in a more timely manner with this new process.
