Welcome to the Oxford Intermediate School Library!

Here at the OIS Library, we make it our mission to support your child's education and foster a lifelong love of reading. Library hours are 7:00-3:15. Students may check out two books at a time, and books check out for two weeks. The library offers a wide variety of reading materials for learning and enjoyment, and new books are arriving daily! You can browse our selections through our online library catalog, or by downloading the Destiny Quest app to your mobile device. Please scroll down to take a look at the exciting events and opportunities we have coming up this nine weeks!

Family Literacy Night

Join us Tuesday, September 29 for Family Literacy Night at OIS. We will be open 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for teachers to share with parents some of the tools being used to encourage reading and how the importance of recreational reading is being promoted at OIS. Door prizes will be awarded. Childcare will be provided for children age 2 years to 4th grade. We look forward to seeing you!

Are you READ-y?

The 2015 MAE Eggbowl Reading Contest is underway here at OIS! Read to support your favorite team and win tickets to the Egg Bowl! All students have to do to enter is read six books and return their signed entry form to the library by October 23rd. Two students from Mississippi, one representing Ole Miss and one representing MSU, will win tickets to the Egg Bowl with two guests, including a visit to the field during pre-game activities. The more students enter, the better chance we have of getting a winner from Oxford this year!

We are pleased to announce that this year we will be using a website called BiblioNasium to encourage students to read. BiblioNasium connects educators, parents, and kids to create a dynamic community where reading experiences are shared. Kids can keep track of their favorite books, log their daily reading, and win virtual awards. Teachers can set up class recommended and required reading lists, as well as assign reading challenges. Although you do not have to join as a parent, there is also a parent component, and you and your child can access BiblioNasium from home. As a parent, you will then be able to see reading lists, monitor your child's independent reading, and even set up family reading challenges. If you wish, you may also want to give your child permission to connect online with friends to see what others are reading, to read book reviews, and to receive and recommend books. A station will be set up in the library at Family Literacy Night to assist parents with the site. Please contact Mrs. Daughdrill for more information on how to create a parent account.

Thanks to the hard work and generosity of your PTO, we are now able to offer unlimited digital access to the best quality magazines for kids through Flipster! Titles include Boy's Life, Discovery Girls, Ranger Rick, Sports Illustrated Kids, and a selection from the Cricket family of educational magazines to support the curriculum. Students can access the magazines directly from the library website or download the latest issues to their mobile device with the free Flipster app. Please contact Mrs. Daughdrill for the password to use at home. No password is required at school.
