Book Fair

It’s time for the book fair! The theme this spring is Feelin’ Groovy –Peace, Love, Books!

This week you will receive flyers to send home with the students in their folder. Next week you will also receive an All for Books slip to send home with your students. All for Books is a way that Union Students can help their fellow students. From the money collected the PTO purchases books for different age groups. Mrs. Ioannacci then distributes these books to appropriate families.

Book Fair Schedule – please note your participation on Friday and Monday.

Friday, May 13th- teacher preview day - come preview the book fair from 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm and enjoy free Starbucks coffee. Pick out the books you’d like and jot them down on the cards we will have available for you. Leave the cards in your slot on the board. If you are unable to visit with us after school, feel free to stop by anytime after we are set up around 1 and fill out your wish lists. Parents and the PTO will purchase as many as we can for you!

Monday, May 16th – student preview day – sign-up to bring your class on Monday to preview the book fair. The sign-up sheet will be posted by the teacher mailboxes. You will receive the wish lists in your mailbox. Please have your students bring a clipboard and pencil so they can make their wish list. * “LIGHT THE WAY TO A CURE”: Keep the fire of hope burning with a luminary purchase in memory of someone lost to cancer; in honor of someone still fighting; or in special recognition of someone who has beaten this disease. The luminary you purchase will be lit and on display during the Luminary Ceremony on Friday, June 10th in Lions Park. Please see the attachment for more details.

* “WHY WE RELAY”: There are faces to our cause! On the entry way bulletin board we would like to display these faces. You can send in a photograph, a hand drawn picture or the name of someone you know who has been touched by cancer. Make sure your child’s name and teacher are on the picture or photograph, so it can be returned.

Thank you for your support!

Movie Night

Don't forget!

The permission slip for the final movie night is due May 11. It is the Relay for Life Movie Night. The limit will be 200 students in attendance. First come, first serve. :) Be on the lookout for the fun and exciting activities we will be doing next week!

Permission Slips

Two permission slips came home today. The red slip is for the final field trip of the year. This one is required if you would like for your child to attend. The blue slip is optional and is for a movie night for just 4th grade.

Famous Hoosiers

I'm proud of the efforts made by the students! We are working on our speeches in class and starting to memorize what we would like to share about our Hoosier. Remember to have the costume ready to go next Thursday! Your child should be able to put their costume on by themselves without help, so please practice at home.

Please join us May 19 from 2:15-2:45 for the big event!

4th Grade Graduates

You should have received an informational sheet sharing some requests to celebrate your child. These include 1 baby picture (with clothes) and up to 15 Union pictures. Please view the list of requirements for the pictures. These can be emailed to by May 13. Please include in the email the child's first and last name along with any other names of Union students if possible. A wonderful keepsake is in the making!

The PTO is currently seeking new officers and committee heads. No experience is required and support from previous members is always provided! There are positions that require varying degrees of time commitment, so likely there is one that will fit your needs. Additionally, many positions can be shared to divide the responsibilities. So, if you have an interest in getting to know other Union parents and supporting our students and teachers, please reach out to Mrs. Raycroft at or current PTO President Alison Schilling at
