Bible Time with Ms. Lorie

In Bible Story time today, we discussed how pumpkins are a bit like people. We talked about how sometimes our thoughts, actions, and words are "ugly" just like the inside of a pumpkin is a bit ugly. But just like when we clean out the inside of a pumpkin and make it pretty and clean, we can get rid of the ugliness inside of us by being kind, apologizing to our friends when we make mistakes, and remembering that God loves us. We also talked about how just like a candle provides a glow for a jack-o-lantern, God gives us a glow about us when we act with love and kindness to our friends. We sang "This Little Light of Mine" to conclude our time together. Ask your children to show you their finger "light" :0) Maybe they can even sing the song for you!

(We also enjoyed reading a book about pumpkins and talking about what a pumpkin looks like inside and out! Your children were quite brave and stuck their hands right into that messy, sticky, and gooey pumpkin. They had a blast!)

Lunch Freezer Packs--no more refrigeration starting November 1

Our church refrigerator is really packed this year due to our Wednesday night dinners and our 50+ kids. We are no longer able to refrigerate our lunches.

Starting in November, we will no longer be putting lunches in the refrigerator or checking lunch boxes for freezer packs (we will assume they have them). Please continue (or start) using freezer packs for refrigerated items.

You can, of course, choose to send items that need no refrigeration if you prefer.

Please help us by using freezer packs on foods that need to maintain a cold temperature. Blue freezer boxes are sold at most grocery stores for less than $2.

Babies and toddlers only: we will still refrigerate your foods in the small nursery refrigerator, especially milk/formula. If you wish to use freezer packs for food, we would love it!

Thank you for helping us!
