SMS Learning Commons
October Update
Stranger Things Are Being Seen in the Halls!
Speaking of Stranger Things, There's a New Face in the Learning Commons!
You may be familiar with Ms. Kathleen from her years in the Dyer Library's Children Room. As much as she loved Dyer Library she is very excited to become a Bobcat! She says that school librarianship is the perfect combination for her since she has a middle school teaching background in language arts and social studies and she finished her master's in library and information science in early 2015. She has missed the special community that you find in schools and is happy to be able to work with the students and teachers throughout the school day and beyond.
Ms. Kathleen and her husband have two sons, a high school freshman, and a sixth grader, and two large dogs, Ivy and Luna, who shed massive amounts of fur. She reads all kinds of books and genres but her especially likest books with a sci-fi element. Her favorite YA books this year have been Scythe by Neal Shusterman and The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. She is currently listening to an audio book of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote and reading Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys.
Ms. Kathleen and Ms. Patti would love to share their love of books and give you a great recommendation so stop by the Learning Commons some time soon!
Great read!
If you like Science Fiction then you need to pick this up!

When you buy from our book fair you support SMS in so many ways. We are able to use our profits to purchase student requested titles, additional copies, complete series, and purchase items for our maker space and green screen room even after our budget has been closed.
We are looking for volunteers to help us staff the book fair. Contact Ms. Kathleen at kawirth@sacoschools.org for more details.
