Weeks of January 25th - January 29th
Caution: Scientists working ahead
This week launched the beginning of a new unit called Mixtures and Solutions. We started by reminding ourselves of science expectations and the cautions and dangers that come from working with chemicals. No worries parents, nothing too dangerous here! We will be working on making gravel and salt mixtures as well as figuring out how to un-mix a solution! Check out our scientists hard at work during the lab!
Graphic Novels - Final Presentations!!
TaDA! Final projects are in and below are a quick sample few that I snapped a picture of! I am so proud of how awesome these turned out and how hard they worked on them! Topics all relate to the civil rights movement and the collaboration needed by people to make a change. They will be up and hanging around the hallway outside our classroom, so please make sure you check them out next time you are vising Purdy!!
Reader's Workshop / Literacy
We launched a new unit talking about renewable resources and sustainable energy options. We really are trying to dive into the idea of being interdependent with other countries for needed resources such as coal and oil and what we will do if those resources should ever run out. Our next writing unit will be an informational research paper about a form of renewable energy and what value it has to our environment and society.
Searching for Non-fiction Text Features!
Winter weather is here and unless the temperature and wind chill is too severe, or it is raining, students will still be expected to go outside before school and during recess. With that said, please be sure to remind your child to bring coats, gloves, boots, snow pants, hats, etc. so they are prepared to be outside. Hiding out in the bathroom and hallways during these break time is not acceptable! Thank you for your help with this!
