Hooch Happenings

Todd's Tidbits

Hooch Families,

Both students and staff have been settling in nicely over the last couple of weeks. We are struggling a little with many students not covering both mouth and nose with their mask, so continue to encourage your son/daughter to stay masked up!

With the continuation of positive COVID numbers going up in the community, I want to remind you that if your student has a pending test OR tested positive, you should report it to the FCS portal found at this link.

This report allows our school nurses and the Fulton County Board of Health to complete any necessary contact tracing, helping us all keep control over exposures and keep our students and schools open and healthy.

10-Day Count - we've reached a crucial checkpoint at the start of the year. Our enrollment is now official. Our 10-day number was 1860, which is over our projection. What does this mean?? Now, our scheduling team will look to level and balance classes to help with class sizes. We may also add sections to help with class sizes. As we do this, class schedules will change for many students. While this might be upsetting, it is a necessary step. I appreciate your patience as we engage in this process.

Lastly, we are still working to help the traffic issues by routing student pick-up vehicles in to the front parking lot (similar to last year). This begins today and we will evaluate the impact of this measure over several days to see if we have to tweak the process any more to get the desired results...less standing traffic on Taylor Road.

All the best,

Dr. Mike Todd

Principal

Counseling Corner

New Student Breakfast

The Counseling Department is hosting our yearly New Student Breakfast on Wednesday, September 1st, at 9:45 am in the Cafeteria! All students new to Chattahoochee (except 9th graders who attended Taylor Road MS last year) will receive an invitation in class on Tuesday, August 31st, and that will also serve as their pass to leave 2nd period on Wednesday.

New students will be introduced to our Administrators, the Counselors, and other people in the Counseling Office that are here to support them. We’ll also invite them to the New Student Group, and students who indicate they want to participate will receive information on when that will start. We are looking forward to getting to know our new students and welcoming them to the Hooch Family!

Virtual College Visits

Virtual College visits have begun! Juniors & Seniors can view the upcoming colleges and sign up thru Naviance. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and find out what the colleges are looking for and what they want from you! Many local private colleges will offer scholarships so their cost is comparative to the local public colleges, don’t miss out on amazing opportunities!
