MURASKI MEMO
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL, MRS. J. PETERS
I CAN'T WAIT FOR SCHOOL TO START!
Abby Wambach, Olympic Soccer player once said,
"I've never scored a goal in my life, without getting a pass from someone else. "
When I saw that quote, it made me think of the Muraski staff, students, parents, and families who have always been supportive of one another. It made me think of all those times that we have been successful, not just because of one individual, but because we worked together as a team. We have had so many successful stories... from academic successes, to teacher successes, to PTA succesess, to fundraisers, field days, classroom successes, and many, many individual successes of students.
We have always stuck together and worked together. We know that at Muraski we have a very large team who supports everyone that is a part of it. This is not a new model for those that know and are a part of Muraski Elementary. It is something that we live each day, it's a great place to learn and grow.
Special Request from Our Muraski Parents...on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
My plan is to welcome the students, off the buses, with music and a Clap-In line. I will have flags lined up along the sidewalk. If we could get some of our parents to stand behind the flags while students are arriving, clapping and cheering students on to start their new school year, I think it would create such a positive atmosphere! (If you have seen the Back to School Walmart commercial, you will get a good idea of what I'm thinking.) Here's the link to watch -start it at the 30 sec mark.
So here's the plan:
- Send your child on the bus like you always do.
- Parents begin to arrive at Muraski at 8:30am and stand outside and wait.
- Park only in the designated spots on the playground, parking lot, in the neighborhood,or along the driveway (We will need the room for our buses)
- Line up behind the flags, keeping the sidewalk completely clear.
- Buses will arrive and unload from the circle.
- At 9:00am, Our Muraski staff will arrive to the sidewalk from the front doors
- Music will be playing through the PA System
- Enjoy the view and clap for our students as they walk down through our Welcome to the New Year Parent Clap-in!
- Students will exit the bus and walk down the sidewalk into the building to start their day. Big Smiles on their faces!
- Parents go home....and we will get started at Muraski with all the activities planned for the first day of school. :)
I hope you will be able to join us on the first day of school. If not, I am sure there will be many pictures and maybe even a video to capture the excitement of getting started for the 2018-19 school year. I thank you in advance for your cooperation and participation with my plan for the very first day of school.
IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME!

I know this is different than the past, but we really felt it was in the best interest to develop our TEAM MURASKI theme and incorporate a time for parents and teachers just to be together.
As far as your child's classroom supplies, please send them with your child, a little at a time during the first week. Students will need pencils, crayons, and paper for sure. All the other things, such as kleenex and ziplock bags, you may bring to your child's classroom on the night of Open House.
