Dear parents and caregivers,

Wow! It is hard to believe that we are half-way through Term Two!

We started the week with our ‘Talent Show – Grand Final’ which was a big successful with Faith being announced the winner with her song, Stand Up. The talent of our students was wonderful and definitely something we should tap into. Again, well done to all of our contestants and to our Year Five students, Katelyn, Amelie and Muku for organising a fabulous event!

On Wednesday, I had the honour of showcasing our magnificent school to a number of CEWA school leaders who gathered for a professional learning opportunity facilitated by the Catholic Primary Principals Association. Many commented on our beautiful surroundings and how well-behaved our students were! Thank you to Mrs Didlock for all the work she did behind the scenes!

The Pre-Primary students hosted and presented a fantastic assembly on Thursday and took us on an adventure 'under the sea'. They have been learning about sea creatures and are super excited about their upcoming excursion to AQWA! Well done to Ms Edwards and Ms Nguyen on organising a wonderful assembly.

The Year Four students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Fremantle Prison on Thursday. The excursion links directly with the History learning area and is a great opportunity for students to learn all the interesting facts and stories associated with Fremantle. The Year 4 students enjoyed a wonderful morning at the Fremantle Prison on Thursday and returned with lots of interesting facts and stories. A big thank you to Mrs Curtis and Ms Johnson for organising such a fabulous experience.

On Thursday, I had a visit from the leadership team from Irene McCormack Catholic College, Butler. Mr Peter Collins (Principal) and Mr Andrew Billingsley (Deputy Principal) were very impressed by our well-mannered students, lovely classrooms and fabulous grounds. If you are interested in considering secondary schooling at Irene McCormack Catholic College, an information package is available at the front office.

A reminder that students should not be exiting cars at the front gate. Please make sure that you are using Kiss and Drive to ensure all students are dropped off safely to school. Additionally, a reminder to all families that no students should be at school before 8:15am. If a student arrives earlier, they will need to be supervised outside the Admin building. Please do not wait outside the classroom doors. Additionally, I would also like to remind parents to arrive NO EARLIER than 2:40pm, this includes parking in the Kiss and Drive.

I have noticed a number of smart watches, including Apple Watches, slowly creeping into school. These are not part of the school uniform and students will be asked to remove them and leave them at the front office at the beginning of the day to be collected at the end of the day. This is the procedure we use for mobile phones and will now be applied to smart watches.

I would like to welcome Mrs Brook de Ruyscher to our school community as a member of our Admin Team. Mrs de Ruyscher will be assisting Mrs Dimond and Mrs Didlock on a Monday and Wednesday in the front office. Please make her feel welcome.

Please keep Mrs Hardie and Mrs Serraino is your prayers as both have lost loved ones over the past week.

Finally, I ask that you keep the Year 6 Confirmation Candidates in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend

God bless

Year 6 Confirmation

InYear Six, the students have been learning about Confirmation. In the Confirmation unit we learn about how to manage our emotions through relationships, how Jesus expressed his emotions in loving ways, how people are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live and love others as Jesus did. The Holy Spirit strengthens people through the Sacrament of Confirmation and how Jesus taught his followers to love others. We have read Gospel stories that teach us about how Saint Peter and Saint Paul were strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

Please keep our Year Six students in our prayers as they make the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend. Thank you to Mr Rebeiro and Miss Collins for preparing our students for the sacrament.

Lifelink –PJ Day and Gold Coin Donation

At St Elizabeth's, we would like to continue the tradition of celebrating a LifeLink fundraiser with our annual Pyjama Day. On Thursday, 1 June all staff, students and parents can come to school in their favourite pyjamas and bring a gold coin donation for LifeLink.

On Wednesday 7th June, four students will travel to Newman College to represent our school in the official launch of Life Link Day. The LifeLink Day Schools Initiative was established in 1999

  • To promote understanding of the Church’s response to people in need within the community.
  • To instil in Catholic students, a sense of responsibility for caring for those less fortunate.
  • To provide education and information of the work the LifeLink social service agencies, which help many thousands of Western Australians in need each year.
  • To encourage a “practical demonstration of Faith” by asking students, teachers and schools to organise a special fundraising event for LifeLink Day, with the proceeds aiding people in real need within the community.

National Simultaneous Storytime

This week Alli Burgess our wonderful librarian arranged our students in Kindy to Year Six to be involved in National Simultaneous Storytime. National Simultaneous Storytime always occurs on the last Wednesday in May. This year, teachers and students all around Australia settled down with their books on 24, May at 9:00am to read the book, 'The Speedy Sloth' simultaneously! Alli has a love of reading and encourages our children to read wherever she can. The students participated in various colouring competitions, with the winners to be announced next Wednesday. Thank you Alli for all that you do to encourage positive, reading habits in our students.
