Wilmot News and Information
This edition of the Wilmot Word is filled with important information about the new school year. Although there are many unknowns about the school year, one thing I do know, is that our staff is hard at work preparing for their new students. We can't wait to greet our Wilmot students and set them up for a successful school year. As always, I am here to support each of you and our students. I am looking forward to a great school year.

Class Placements - Friday, August 14, 2020
Class placements will will be available in Family Access on Friday, August 14th at 8:00 a.m. Class placements is a complex process. We have put a significant amount of time into creating balanced classes that meet student needs. I ask that parents refrain from making teacher or friend requests as these requests cannot be honored due to the complexities involved in developing our classes. Our teachers will follow a similar schedule and will implement the curriculum with consistent resources and instructional practices.
Teacher-Student Meet and Greet - Wednesday, August 19, 2020
SAVE THE DATE: We will hold a meet and greet event on August 19, 2020. The meet and greet will allow students to meet their teacher OUTSIDE in small groups, receive their 1:1 iPad or Chromebook, and pick up a materials bin with all of the items students will need to participate in remote learning. The PTO will also be here to distribute school supply kits to those students that ordered them last spring. More details about the Meet and Greet will be shared next week. We are so excited that our first day of school will be devoted to introducing our students to their teachers and ensuring that all students have the tools they need to successfully learn from home.
Remote Learning Schedules
All students will receive a copy of their teacher's daily schedule in the materials bin that will be handed out during the Meet and Greet event. The remote schedule closely resembles our in-person schedules. All Wilmot students will have a 55 minute lunch break each day from 11:50-12:45.
PTO Corner
- The PTO membership is available on the PTO website. Remember to join before class placements come out so you can see the class lists as they populate.
- If you would like to be a Room Parent please email Bari Schwartz barimarsden@gmail.com.

School Supplies and Instructional Materials
Many Wilmot families ordered school supply kits last spring. It is important that students have school supplies for remote and in-person learning (students only need one set of supplies). The PTO will be at Wilmot on Wednesday, August 19 to hand out pre-ordered school supply kits. If you did not order a kit please click here to see a list of school supplies by grade.
Instructional Materials - In order to support students with remote and in-person learning we will provide each student with necessary (individual) student materials. All students will receive a bin filled with grade level materials to use at home and when we return to in-person learning. Bins vary by grade but include items such as math workbooks, math manipulatives, Leader In Me books, a dry-erase clipboard and many other resources and tools.

Remote Learning Care Opportunities
As we shared on the District Facebook page earlier this week, we understand that the decision to start the school virtually places a burden on many families. We are working with various public and private agencies around Deerfield to develop options for families. The Deerfield Park District is offering care for 109 families ONLY. You can find out more about their program here. The North Suburban YMCA is offering a similar program and has registration open now. Those seeking financial assistance are encouraged to contact the team at West Deerfield Township. We will continue to update our School Reopening page with any other opportunities for care or assistance that arise.
