Election of 2008

Barack Obama and John McCain enter the race to became president. This was after George W. Bush left the office.Obama received more votes than any candidate in history. The prior record, about 62 million, was set in 2004 by George W. Bush. This was a very important because Obama was the first African American president. Obama was also the first U.S Senator.


9/11, Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.

The Patriot Act Extension was signed on May 26, 2011 by President Obama. They had this so it would make it harder for posterior to come to the U.S

Afghanistan war was started in response to 9/11

The airport severity has really tighten up since the attack.

War in Iraq

The Iraq war lasted 12 years

Started by Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein in September 1980

The U.S. formally withdrew all combat troops from Iraq by December 2011
