The Week Ahead...
**Grades can be checked anytime through PowerSchool.
Wednesday, Oct. 19th- PreAct Test
ALL 9th and 10th grade students will be taking the PreACT on campus at James Clemens. Please arrive on campus at your regular time. Report directly to your testing location rather than your 1st block class. There will be signs throughout the building with testing locations.
**Students need to bring a calculator for use on the math portion of the test if they would like to use one. Calculators are not provided by the school. The approved calculator list is attached.
The standard test administration is scheduled to conclude around 12:15 pm. (Students who have extended time accommodations will be dismissed after they conclude testing.) Once testing has concluded, students involved in testing will be dismissed for the day.
Buses transportation and lunches will be available for students who request them. Please use the link found HERE to request afternoon bus transportation and/or lunches.
Car riders will be picked up in the auditorium parking lot. Parents are asked to PARK in a parking space in the auditorium parking lot to wait for your student rather than in the traditional car line. This will help with the traffic flow at dismissal.
Students in grades 11 and 12 will have an eLearning day on Wednesday, 10/19/22.
Alabama College Application Week(ALCAW) begins Monday, Oct. 17th
70 colleges waiving their appication fees, ask your teachers to see the list of schools

Yearbooks and Fall Pictures
Remember to purchase your 2022-2023 yearbook!
Fall Picture orders will be distributed during Advisory on Monday, October 17. When picture proofs arrive from the make-up day, families will be able to order at that time.
Reminders
Students cannot be dropped off or picked up at the front circle of the school. Please follow the instructions to carline at the auditorium side of the building. This is for the safety of our students and to help the flow of traffic. We appreciate your cooperation!
Students checking in or who arrive at school after the start of the school day, should ONLY enter the building from the front entrance and go through the attendance office.
Students are allowed 5 parent notes PER semester. If your student is out of parent notes then any tardy or absence will be unexcused without a doctor's excuse. You can monitor your students attendance in PowerSchool as well.
**Send all school excuses or concerns about attendance to jchsattendance@madisoncity.k12.al.us

Parents can attend just one workshop that interests them or attend them all. These workshop sessions are provided in partnership by Madison City Schools and Madison City Council of PTAs to bring deeper understanding on how to support the mental health of young people. All sessions are led by area mental health professionals.
