Monday Message Patterson

January 23, 2023
Good Monday to All!
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. Our district has much to be proud of and celebrate. UCISD will be represented at the Regional Spanish Spelling Bee in San Antonio by Julieta Guzman with the winning word of "Ganador - Ganadora." Macey Fowler has advanced to the Regional Swimming Competition in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle. Jack Brock scored a hole-in-1 at the UISD Nixon Golf Tournament! In addition, over the weekend, the UHS Coyote and Lobo Wrestling Team participated in the New Braunfels Canyon Cougarette Classic and Mabry Scramble, with many wrestlers placing in the top 3! Our students represented our district and schools with Coyote and Lobo Pride!
We have much to celebrate among our staff. You may have heard the announcement at our January Board Meeting; Wade Miller, UCISD Athletic Director and UHS Head Football Coach, has been nominated by the Houston Texans organization for the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award. Shining just as bright, our very own head school nurse, Julie Mize will be featured in the School of Nursing magazine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Showcasing over 100 students participating in the Uvalde County Stock Show are Mr. Black and Mrs. Rowen, with countless hours of guidance, preparation, and grit. These are only a few highlights of our staff, which I want to thank for making our district great.
I want to thank our parents for their continued support. It is impactful when our parents encourage and support students being involved in school activities. School involvement leads to excellent character traits such as respect, commitment, and perseverance. When parents and district staff work together, our students reap the benefits of a supportive, encouraging, and loving learning environment. Great things are happening in Uvalde CISD!

Interim Superintendent
A Message from Gary Patterson...
Continuation of Announced Safety Drills
District administration has considered the parents' request to continue with the announcement of Safety Drills. Uvalde CISD will continue announcing Safety Drills for the remainder of the school year. We understand that these drills could be triggering for some students, and we want to remind you that counseling support is available on every campus in the district. If you feel your child needs additional support, please reach out to your child's school counselor or the Family-Student Support Counselor on their campus. If you have questions regarding safety drills, safety concerns, or counseling support, please do not hesitate to contact the UCISD Central Office at 830-278-6655.
UCISD Celebrates 100 days of school.....
What Matters Most?
What Matters Most... Doing Things Right or Doing The Right Things?
What Matters Most... Getting or Giving?
What Matters Most... What We Have Lost or What We Have Found?
What Matters Most.. The Lines On Our Faces or The Experiences That Made Them?
Scott Milder, Friends of Texas Public Schools, put together this 3 minute video to emphasize Texas teachers/coaches are Superheroes. Though the video is from around the state, on any given day we can see these same Superheroes right here in our own backyard, this is What Matters Most!
