Resource to spot FAKE news to use in your classroom
Resources to help you and your students battle bias, recognize fake news, and become engaged citizens.
Thanks to Glen Wiebe, (@glennw98) Kansas Educator and an amazing resource. Check out it is blog History Tech. Yes, Glen is a former Social Studies teacher, now working full time for ESSDACK, an educational service center in Kansas.
Check out his recent article: Real or Fake? Factitious is a breakthrough tool for assessing student online literacy
Glen also uses a tool called Wakelet and has compiled a Wakelet with a list of those different tools. pretty cool and very useful. I have started following Glen's Wakelet and plan to geive this new tool a try, more information about Wakelet is below.
A new Bookmarking tool: Save to Wakelet
So... what’s a wake? Wakes are stunning story-like collections of content curated by people like you.Just like the wakes that boats and planes create, every wake you create leaves a path for others to follow.
Bookmarking with Wakelet
Save and organize links into shareable collections. In just a couple of clicks, you can save and organize links to articles, videos, tweets, and anything else on the web. When you see something you'd like to save, just click the Wakelet button.
And you are in luck it has a Safari extension and also a Chrome extension.
I have added the extension and plan to give it a try. I am thinking it might be a great way to gather a list of resource on a specific topic for a unit I am teaching. I am following Glen's lead. I will post my first resources list in a week or two.
Check out April's blog about using Keynote + GarageBand, simply amazing!
