Week of May 9-13

K-PREP is Here!

Tuesday, May 10 will be the first day of K-PREP. K-PREP is our state's end of year standardized test that measures your child's reading comprehension and math abilities for 2015-2016 school year.

Everyone has worked so hard this year & I know the kiddos will do great. To help ensure that each child does their best, please encourage them to:

  • Get a good night's sleep.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Wake up happy, excited & ready to do their best!
  • Remind them that you believe in them & give 100%.
  • Arrive to school on time.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the "Top Secret" assignment. This really helps the kiddos start off their day on a positive note, ready to do their best! Let's SMASH that test!

Yearbooks are in! If you didn't get a chance to order one, there are still some left for purchasing. The cost is $18. Please send in a check to Cartmell or the exact change.

We Are Learning To...

Language Arts

We will begin KPREP testing in Reading on Tuesday, so we will spend Monday reviewing as we did last week.

For the remainder of the week, we will be doing activities related to different nonfiction and fictional texts.

We will not begin the Math portion of K-PREP until Friday, so until then we will continue on with our new learning.

This week we will study geometry and how different shapes have different characteristics. We will also study perimeter and work on solving real-world problems that relate to area and perimeter. To wrap up, we will do some review of everything we have learned this year.
