We held our Board Meeting last night that included an excellent 2022-23 Student Services Report and other relevant items below.

Personnel Report
The Board officially hired:
Danna Hirsch (Instructional Assistant) at Willowbrook
Ryan Hochman (Special Education Teacher) at Wescott
Kristen Naber (Instructional Assistant) at Willowbrook
Emily Ticho (School Psychologist) at Wescott
Sandra von Holst (School Clerk) at Willowbrook
Alexis Walley (Special Education Teacher) at Willowbrook
Please help welcome these individuals into our District 30 Family!
The Board approved the following in-district changes:
- Martine Reif from a 5th-grade teacher at Wescott to the district-wide Math Interventionist
Evie Ligka from Instructional Assistant at Maple to Instructional Assistant at Willowbrook
Kathryn Schmeckpeper from part-time Spanish teacher at Wescott to full-time teacher between Wescott and Maple
Congratulations to all of these individuals!
The Board approved the resignations of Kristin Goss, Elizabeth Kane, Tina Karajic, Michele Pollina, Leena Ramachandra, and Nicole Rugen. We wish these individuals well.
The Board also approved all temporary summer school and technology staff. In addition, they thanked our retiring administrators, Maple Assistant Principal Mrs. Betty Holzkopf and Superintendent Dr. Wegley, as well as departing District Office Administrative Assistant Michele Pollina, for their service.
Updated 2022-23 Staffing Plan Approved
The Board reviewed and approved the shift from a potential fourth Supportive Learning Environment (SLE) teacher to an Inclusion Specialist that can cover SLE needs and provide district-wide Student Services support.
First Reading of PRESS Board Policy 111 Update
The Board approved this spring’s new and updated Board Policies, which included 2:110 Qualifications, Term, and Duties of Board Officers; 5:30 Hiring Process and Criteria; 5:90 Abused and Neglected Child Reporting; 5:125 Personal Technology and Social Media; Usage and Content; 5:150 Personnel Records; 5:260 Student Teachers; 6:135 Accelerated Placement Program; 6:230 Library Media Program; and 8:20 Community Use of School Facilities.
Strategic Planning Update
The administrative team provided a progress update on the 2022-23 Strategic Plan in support of the District 30 Board Goals:
Goal 1: Increase District 30’s capacity to systemically collaborate within grade-level teams to execute the cycle of continuous instructional improvement.
Goal 2: Strengthen a sense of belonging through diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts that foster positive climates across District 30.
Goal 3: Foster emotionally intelligent schools where students and staff feel safe to learn and perform at their best.
Student Services Report
Student Services Director Mrs.. Lauren Schulman shared this year’s Student Services Report, including her gratitude for the Board, Administrative Team, our English Learner and Special Education Teams, our Psychologists, Nurses, and our entire staff for their continued support and commitment to all of our students. She reviewed our Health Services, English Language Learner and Special Education Programs.
Her presentation highlighted the strength of our diversity with 45 languages spoken within our district, the broad range of services our nurses support, and the many interventions that support our students. Ms. Schulman wove her pride for the continued high level of support into her entire presentation!
Student Services Coordinator Mrs. Rachel Pollera highlighted examples of professional development inclusion efforts throughout the year and previewed efforts that will occur next year. Among many efforts, she celebrated greater participation in Professional Learning Teams by English Learner teachers and Learning Behavior Specialists, as well as professional learning for Instructional Assistants (IAs).
The Board thanked Mrs. Schulman, Mrs. Pollera and the entire Student Services team for their hard work and dedication to our students throughout the year!

Mrs. Zivit Blonder’s highlights from the last Character Counts meeting included our strategic planning efforts, along with pride in how deeply this work is embedded within District 30.
Next District 30 School Board Meeting

- New Superintendent Dr. Emily Tammaru’s first official Board Meeting
- A required public hearing on the renewal of our eLearning Plan that allows District 30 to consider eLearning days in the place of Emergency Days (e.g., snow days)

Our Board of Education
The Board of Education consists of seven members elected from the general public to serve the entire Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 Community. The Board provides governance for the district by hiring and evaluating the superintendent and approving a budget, policies, and goals that align with the district's strategic plan. Board members are:
