Palmyra Elementary School
October Newsletter 2017
Introduction
We have had a busy October with a focus on bullying prevention and promoting healthy lifestyle choices! We saw a ton of school spirit with our Red Ribbon Week dress up days. This week we will cap it all off with the "Power of One" assembly on Friday sponsored by our Palmyra PTA. As we move into November, and the holiday season approaches, please remember that every school day counts! It is very important for students to be on time and at school every day.

AVID Buddies at Palmyra
Palmyra Elementary School is committed to providing meaningful leadership opportunities for students to foster a culture of college and career readiness. All of our classes are paired up so that our younger students have an upper grade "AVID buddy". The classes are working together on projects or activities that incorporate AVID strategies. These activities build the critical thinking and collaborative skills that are needed in future learning and career endeavors for all of our students!
Pictured below, Ms. Campbell's Fifth and Sixth grade class work with Mrs. Rowe's Second and Third grade class on 3 Column Notes for their vocabulary words. Learning how to take notes is a very important skill for students as they move onto middle and high school!
Bully Awareness Month By: Karis Hong & Krystal Coyomani
First of all, what is Bully Awareness? Well, Bully Awareness is a month to stop bullying people at school or anywhere. Why is Bully Awareness important? Well the answer is that it ends bullying. What can you do during Bully Awareness Month? Well at school or any place, you can sit with a person that feels alone. You can also help by treating everyone equally, and loving everyone as you love yourself. We have some ideas you can do to stop bullying! An example is, you can tell your entire class to wear the same color shirt to include everyone in the fun! Another idea is, you can be friends with someone you don’t know, and challenge others to be kind and friendly. During “Stand Up For Others” week, you can participate by giving students, or people, a post-it note saying positive things. Also, you can go up to someone and sit with them, and talk to them. Finally, you can discuss how you can make the world a better place, and how to stomp out bullying!
