Monday Message

Because we have a short week and we are in that final crawl to the finish line, I'm going to keep this week's Monday Message short. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own "stuff" that I have to remind myself to practice what I preach: stop, breathe, reflect. It's hard to believe that when we get back from break we will be nearly finished with the first half of the school year. Time really does fly when you're having fun, and I'm not just saying that to be hokey. Being an educator is hard work, and there are certainly days on the 35 minute drive home when I go over some misstep in my head and think "Wow, you could have handled that a lot better, Dawkins." But, inevitably, a new day comes around, and I'm back here quickly being reminded that everything will be fine because of all of you. Thank you for bringing your best selves through our doors each day, even when life is overwhelming. Thank you for caring deeply about our students and their place in this crazy world. Thank you for not immediately writing off my hair-brained ideas in faculty meetings and in the hallways, and thank you for welcoming me into your classrooms with a smile, again, even when you don't feel like it. We do some of the most important work, as far as I'm concerned. I'm happy to be doing it alongside all of you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Enjoy your time with family and friends, but first let's eat!
