Principal's Message
We were pleased to welcome two visiting authors to our school this week. Anne Sibley O’Brien and Mary Cerullo spent the day with us on Tuesday, January 14th. The students were full of questions and curiosity for their presentations. We are lucky to have such a supportive PTC sponsoring such events for our school and students. Thank you to the Library Crew for organizing the event and helping to make a memorable day!
Annual Talent Show: We will hold our annual talent show tryouts on January 24th from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. All students "make the event," but this gives us the opportunity to prepare for their act and get students ready for the final show set for February 28th from 6 pm to 8 pm. There has been a permission slip sent home for students staying after school to participate in the try out session. If you can not make the tryout but would like to perform, just send an email to Jeanna.Tuell@rsu34.org with your child's "act" and various needs for the show. This is a great opportunity to see some of the talented students at OTES!
Vision at OTES: Over the course of the year our staff has been working to develop a new Vision Statement. We have worked as a whole group, received input and feedback from our PTC, and given the draft to our staff for further feedback. We would love to hear from you as we start to develop a "second draft" of this statement. Our goal is to complete our Vision Statement by the end of the school year to start the 2020-2021 school year with a clear, concise, and meaningful statement to help guide our work of educating your children at OTES. Here's a draft of that work thus far, please feel free to provide feedback through email to Jeanna.Tuell@rsu34.org, Maggie.Mitchell@rsu34.org, Kerri. Dexter@rsu34.org :
At Old Town Elementary School, our vision is to partner with families and our community to foster students who:
- Work hard at both their behavior and learning,
- Are kind and respectful to themselves and others,
- Take personal responsibility for their decisions and actions, and
- Are building independence to take on opportunities and challenges.
5th Grade Parents: We will begin planning the 5th Grade Celebration on January 29th at 5:30 pm in the library. We will have several meetings from January to April to develop our vision for the end of the year celebration. If you can not make this event, you will have other opportunities to contribute and support the celebration.
