Week of November 18 - 22, 2019
Hello Sachems! Welcome Back!
Welcome Back! I hope you had a great weekend and you finished the first week of Quarter II with a sense of accomplishment and energy to meet your academic goals this quarter. I know you can do it. We have a very busy week ahead with the engagement of our 21st Century Learning Conference - Diving Into The Real World. We have so many community partners coming to share their passion and expertise about careers, hobbies, and engaging in the real world. I hope you are excited about our day on Friday.
As we begin to approach the Thanksgiving holiday....it is important to think about what you are thankful for. What do you appreciate? What are you grateful for? Over the next days leading up to the Thanksgiving break...be sure to reach out to those for whom you are thankful for. Please know...I am thankful for each of you and for what you bring to our school. Proud that you wear the Black and Orange.
Here are a few items for the week ahead.
A special note of thanks and appreciation...
- A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Shae Gallagher for competing in the MIAA All-State Championship Meet on Saturday in Gardner. Shae did awesome racing a very hilly course and the fan base from Middleborough that attended the meet was quite huge, which is awesome. Shae...we are beyond proud of you!
- Congratulations to the Freshmen Football Team for finishing their season with such success. Keep the eye on the prize! We are very proud of you.
- Congratulations to the MHS Football Team for their outstanding win on Friday night against Sandwich. Also, the fan base on Friday was great. Tribe Nation was out in full force.
- Thank you to the AP Science Students for being such great hosts as we opened our school to schools from across the region on Saturday for they first AP Saturday Session for Science. Well done, Sachems!
- Congratulations to Steven Roy for winning the annual Talent Show on Wednesday evening. Outstanding! Also, amazing job to all participants in this awesome event. Thank you to the MHS Concert Choir for bringing this program to our school. Well done!
- Congratulations to the over 20 members of the Senior Class who were accepted into Bridgewater State University in the annual On-the-Spot Admissions Day. Well done, Future Bears!
- Congratulations to the 49 members of the Class of 2020 who were awarded the Class of 2020 John and Abigail Adams Scholarship for their excellent achievement on their MCAS Assessments during 9th and 10th grade. Well done! Thank you to the many recipients to were able to attend the reception on Wednesday.
GOOD LUCK to the MHS Cheerleading Team as they compete in the South Sectional Championship Meet on Sunday at Plymouth North High School. You are #SachemSTRONG!
Character Strong - Advisory - Monday, November 18, 2019
Our next Character Strong Advisory will take place on Monday, November 18, 2019. The Advisory for this week will focus on the importance of personal branding and what story do you want to tell about who you really are. Get ready for an interesting lesson this week.
Please be sure to follow the Advisory Schedule for Monday. All Massasoit Students who have a class at MCC Block 4 will be leaving MHS at the conclusion of Advisory...not before.
Quarter I Report Cards - Distributed - Friday, November 15, 2019
Just a friendly reminder that Quarter I Report Cards were distributed to all students (Grades 9 - 12) on Friday, November 15, 2019. If you did not get your report card in Advisory on Friday...please see Mrs. Scanlon in the main office as she will have your report card.
Early College Night - Monday, December 2 - MHS Library
Are you interested in college? Are you already taking a college-level class at Massasoit Community College this semester in our Early College Program? If so....then please join us for an evening to learn about Early College and the first step to earning your college degree. This evening is brought to you in partnership by the MHS Guidance/School Counseling Department and Massasoit Community College - Early College Program. Please see Mrs. Miller in the Guidance Department with any questions.
The event will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 6:30pm.
Student Council Update
- Executive Board Meeting – Monday, November 18 – 6:00pm
- Student Council Meeting - Wednesday, November 20 - 7:00pm - This meeting is very important as they will be finalizing all Spirit Week Events and preparing for the exciting events planned in December!
- Spirit Week is coming....be sure to sign up for committees to help with the exciting events coming before Thanksgiving.
Colleges of the Fenway Tour - December 4, 2019
Attention all members of the Class of 2021! The annual Colleges of the Fenway Tour will be taking place on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Permission slips are now available in the MHS Guidance Office. Space is limited! Please see your Guidance Counselor with any questions.
Mark Your Calendars - 21st Century Learning Conference - DIVE - November 22, 2019
- MHS is excited to launch the third annual 21st Century Learning Conference for all students this Friday, November 22, 2019. Information will be coming out shortly for planning.
- Sign-up for workshops will begin on Monday, November 18, 2019. Be sure to watch your email! Stay tuned.
- Get ready for an exciting day at MHS.
Winter Sports Begin - Important Dates to Remember!
The start of Winter Sports will be here before you know it. Here are some very important dates for you to place into your calendar if you plan on playing a winter sport.
- Winter Sports Registration on Family ID Opens - Monday, November 4
- Winter Sports Begin - Monday, December 2
- Winter Sports Parent/Guardian Meeting - MANDATORY - Thursday, December 5 - 7:00pm
Special Evening Planned: Fall Sports Award Night - Tuesday, December 10 - 6:30pm
Middleborough High School Book Club
The next meeting of the Middleborough High School Book Club will take place on Monday, November 18, 2019. Please see Mrs. Phillps in the MHS Library with any questions.
World Of Difference Program
We want to wish the 22 students who will begin their important training to become Peer Leaders for the MHS World Of Difference Program. Their training will begin on Monday, November 18th at the Nichols Middle School.
