Principal's Message
As we speed through November, gratitude continues to grow at Hallinan. Staff are leaving kind notes to each other; students are discussing what they are grateful for and why; and, everyone had an opportunity to write letters thanking our military members. Additionally, two of our amazing staff members, Brenda and Grace, upgraded our showcase in the vestibule - I love seeing the beautiful reminder to be thankful each day. If your family is looking for ways to discuss and show gratitude, please visit Brittany Erspamer's November Counseling Corner for conversation starters and activities.
A couple days ago at dismissal, one of our parents captured a few of us under a stunning rainbow. How lucky we are to be at this amazing school! Thank you for sharing your children with us. We are fortunate to be part of their extraordinary learning journey, and we appreciate your continued partnership and collaboration.
I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.
Melissa Griffiths

Vision Screening at Hallinan
Lake Oswego School District will be conducting the annual vision screening for Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th grade students at Hallinan on Wednesday, December 1 at 8:45 am.
Vision screening will be done by the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. The OLSHF uses a Spot screener to do the vision screening. It looks like a large camera that takes a picture of your child’s eyes.
More information about Spot:
Some additional information:
- You have the right to decline vision screening for your child. Please let your child’s teacher know if you would like your child to OPT-OUT of vision screening.
- If your child is referred to a vision specialist, you will receive screening results within two weeks of the screening day.
- If for some reason the Spot screener could not take an adequate picture of your child’s eyes; a vision screening will be done using a distance eye chart.
- The vision screening is for Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students. If a parent of a 2nd or 4th grader has a specific vision concern for their student and would like them screened, they should notify the teacher.
