Partial Eclipse
Safety update
Dear Parents
Although the partial eclipse is a once in a lifetime opportunity, Providence Montessori has decided to not participate in outdoor observance of the historical event.
To prevent inadvertently directly viewing of the eclipse that can damage the eyes, we will keep children inside between noon and 4:30 pm.
NASA's website has clear explanations of the science and will also have live safe feeds to observe the event.
We will use this opportunity to teach children about science. Show children pictures of the partial eclipse. We will also demonstrate the events with a big ball and a little ball and have the children play being the moon and being the sun by holding a flashlight and attempt to have moon block the sun.
