CFKN PTA CORNER
‘Tis the Season… To make holiday gift giving easy, here are some of CFKN’s teacher/staff members’ favorite things! Let's shower our teachers with love this holiday season and show them how much we appreciate all that they do! If your teacher’s list is missing, please check back later this week. We’ll add more favorite lists over the next few days.
CARPOOL REMINDERS
As we focus on maximizing safety during carpool, CFKN families can further support these outcomes by following a few practices outlined below:
Arrival and Dismissal
- Arrive before 7:20 am and 2:20 pm to avoid middle school traffic.
- Upon arrival, please ensure that students remain in the car until an adult is present and on duty.
- For students not picked up before 2:45 pm, parents MUST park and walk in the front office to sign out their students.
- Please remain in line and in your vehicle at all times. Our staff members will provide assistance for students exiting the vehicle if unable to exit on their own. Students should not be walked across the parking lot unless a parent/guardian has official business in the front office.
- If there are any changes to who will be picking up your child, please contact the front office prior to dismissal. We ask that you please make sure the pick up person is aware of the dismissal guidelines and procedures.
- We do not dismiss students from the office after 2:00 pm. If you need to sign your student out early, it must be done before 2:00 pm.
When in carpool:
- Ensure students are prepared to exit the car with their bookbags on and other belongings in hand before reaching the drop-off area.
- Students MUST exit and enter the car from the passenger side of the vehicle. No student will be permitted to walk around the front or back of a car for safety reasons. Please make necessary arrangements to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
- During dismissal, please display carpool tags in the front window, hanging from your visor as you enter, and until students are safely loaded in the vehicle. This helps us expedite the system significantly.
- Please pull all the way forward in carpool (beyond the blue cone) to assist with carseats and seatbelts.
- We ask that drivers please refrain from cell phone use during carpool so that the safety of our children is not compromised.
Muller utilizes our carpool lane to help lessen the traffic out on Muller Rd. Arriving early will ensure that there are no issues getting through the line.
Late Arrival Procedures
If you arrive at school AFTER 7:40 am and there is NO ADULT ON DUTY in the carpool loop, you MUST park your vehicle and walk your child into the CFKN front office for their supervision and safety. Thank you in advance for your support in this matter.
- Tardies begin at 7:50am. An adult will need to sign the student in at this time, using the Ident-A-Kid kiosk in the vestibule.
Excessive tardies will be reviewed under the choice option for attendance to a magnet program.
AFTERCARE PARENTS
Just a friendly reminder to keep up with your after-school care payments.
Payment is due on Monday of each week. Accounts must be kept current in order for your child(ren) to remain in the aftercare program. Payment is still required the weeks your child(ren) does not attend aftercare. Falling behind on payments puts you at risk of being released from the aftercare program.
Fall Semester Aftercare Tuition must be paid IN FULL by Friday, December 16th if you wish for your child(ren) to remain in the program for the Spring Semester. Thank you!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
We are at the final month of the year; time has truly flown by! As this year comes to a close, I am so amazed by the growth and development seen in each student from the first day of school until this present day, especially in grades Kindergarten through second; I have been telling them this month how much they have evolved and matured. I will be continuing monthly Classroom Counseling Lessons, however this month’s will be shortened and there will be interactive games on the concepts taught these first two nine weeks. Kindergarten and First grades will play a “Matching our Feelings to Words” game and also “Emotion I Spy”. Second through Fifth Grades will play interactive whole group games reviewing all concepts taught in the months of September, October, and November.
This is the month for Acts of Kindness. Having compassion for others and treating those around us with kindness doesn’t have to be taught. It’s often learned through modeled behavior and comes naturally to many kids. Below, you will find a list of activities for the family to demonstrate acts of kindness this month. These activities and acts of kindness will help children interact and engage with the world around them in a compassionate and empathetic way.
Remember, if there is anything that arises apart from school that may impact your child’s emotional stability in school, please let me know so that I can support them in school.
Be kind to yourself and one another,
Ms. Cooper-Shaw, School Counselor
FROM THE LIBRARY
We would love to have have some extra hands in the library. We could use someone to help during the Kindergarten library time on Monday afternoons, and also someone to check out and shelve on Monday or Tuesday mornings. If you would be interested in volunteering a couple of hours each week, please email mboyce@richland2.org.
Electronic Communication Devices at school
As technology has become more accessible to younger students we want to remind all of our families that we follow Richland Two School Board Policy related to Electronic Communication Devices.
Elementary and middle school students may not use or display ECDs while on school property during school hours (7:40 am - 2:30 pm).
Thank you so much for your support of this and reminding students that they are not to be used while on campus during the school day.
