Facilities Matrix
The Board is reviewing the Facilities Master Plan that includes district-wide improvements that will be addressed over the next five years. The Board chose not to move forward with reconstructing the pavement and drainage in the east courtyard or the exterior ramps outside the first- and second-grade hallways at Laura B. Sprague. Additional input from staff will occur prior to any changes to those projects.
Aide Compensation 2022-2023
The Board reviewed information regarding increases to the district’s aide compensation for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. There was a proposal to raise the associates’ rate by 3.5 percent as well as recommendations for further options for new and existing employees based on education and experience. The Board will take action on the aide compensation package at a future meeting.
Budget Discussion
The Board discussed the proposed 2022-2023 budget. Expenses are budgeted at $38.07 million. Revenue is budgeted at $38.3 million. The administration modified the budget to ensure there was a larger fund balance that can be used for capital improvements or other unknown expenses that must be made in a fiscal year. Expenses include salary increases averaging 3.5 percent, medical insurance increasing 6.2 percent, and increased capital outlay expenses. The district is still finalizing the budget. The Board will approve the final budget at the July 12 board meeting.
Policy Updates
The Board reviewed policies to ensure they were current with the law. The discipline policy was reviewed and a change was made so that students could have phones at school as long as they were turned off and in their lockers during the school day.
Board Workshop
The Board will hold a workshop in August to review the facility needs, budget projections, and the strategic plan.
